AGAdminService / Citrix is running 100% cpu, but I never installed it!

I ran top -o cpu and I see:

646- AGAdminServi 100.1 05:44.39 7/1 1 76 N/A N/A N/A N/A

I tracked this down to be Citrix.. but.. I umm.. don't have citrix/didn't install it

this was never a problem until I installed Lion

Anyone know how to literally just tear this out of my system(wherever it is hiding)?

I read other posts about /Library/Application Support/Citrix.. but I dont have that folder etc

I basically can't use my MBP anymore due to this

What I still wonder, and haven't been able to find an answer to, is the following:

I do have Lion installed on my macbook (white, late 2008) and also installed Citrix. I do require the use of Citrix, for work purposes. At this moment, my battery life is halved and the fans on my computer are running like crazy, as AGAdmin is hogging up 95+% of the computer resources. This bugs me out. Question is: Will Citrix still function as expected when I proceed to disable the AGAdmin stuff?

@xwitek, that suggestion didn't work for me. It still cranked up the CPU after a while. And for the record, I'm running Lion from a clean, non-upgraded partition.

@muffindlx, I just hear back from my Citrix SE. He suggested I try to install the 11.4 XA plug-in which is currently in "tech preview" or not generally available. I'll test this soon and post back. Let's hope Citrix got this right.

Remember that if your Citrix administrators have configured it, Java will still work although it is slower and less feature rich. At least it's an option until this fiasco gets cleared up.

In the end I got fed up with it and decided to try the terminal and paste the following command (as mentioned earlier in this thread): "sudo launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.citrix.agadminservice.plist"

This solved the AGAdminService problems, and the loud fans as well. Also removed and reinstalled the Citrix software and even that seems to function properly. Phew.... at least I got rid of the very annoying loud fans and now my battery time is decent again.

Roger, you're the best. After countless hours with Apple tech support, this was the solution all along. Ran the command you suggested, uninstalled all older Citrix software, reinstalled the new versions of receiver from mycitrix.com, and I can now access (for you Citrix users) both my XenDesktop and use XenApp through receiver without taxing my CPUs gig - which means no more fighter jet engine fan noise, no more overheating client, and normal battery life. Can't thank you enough man -

Worked for me too........ill update later for any problems.......I instantly went up too 7 hour battery life with 30 percent light bright and Safari running one window. It then calcualted again for each time I increased back light and added more internet tabs, subsequently going lower in battery life. Still much higher and noticeable then before. I am back to the Mac difference!!!

I'm experiencing the same overheating/loud fan issues following the upgrade to Lion. I tried resetting the SMC (shut down, take out the battery, hold down the power button for a few seconds, replace the battery and power on), but the problem returned the next morning. It also appears that I don't have a com.citrix.agadminservice.plist file in /Library/LaunchDaemons, so I'm out of luck there. I wonder if we're all looking at the correct issue for a long-term fix for this issue? If it's one process running out of control, that's easy. But for those of us still experiencing the problem even without Citrix installed, is it a larger problem with Lion not managing runaway processes well enough?

Does anyone have a working fix for those of us without the Citrix .plist file?

Thank you!
