The gestures such as three fingers and thumb swipe to open launchpad/clear desktop and three/four fingers swipe to switch between full screen apps/swipe up for mission control are not working all of a sudden, when they were 5 minutes ago. I have not changed any of the settings in system preferences.
I modified the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.driver.AppleMultitouch.trackpad.plist file entries which contain *HorizSwipe* from integer 0 to 1, launched the Preferences pane and was able to reactivate the three finger desktop swipe...
Do not know why it worked !

A simple restart seems to have fixed it but I don't know what caused it in the first place, seems to be a bug or a glitch or something.

i have an issue with one gesture.. when i first installed lion i could four finger gesture to the left and change desktops but now i cant.. i dono if it was a bug or what but a reboot didnt fix it LOL
i'll try to quickly sum up my issues....
firstly, why do all the trackpad gesture references online suggest mission control is accessed with a three finger swipe upwards, when mine is four fingers? its the default setting and i've not changed it.
anybody else?
also, finally, when i try a three finger double tap to lookup gesture, lion goes to the first desktop space i have created, and when going back to the lookup page the popup has come up with the definitions.
are these two issues common to anybody else? i notice there are alot of bugs around within lion, so thought id add my experiences. no other issues tho luckily for me.

the three finger lookup gesture i have solved.
if echofon for mac is running, then the gesture does not work. if i close (and i mean properly exit out) then the gesture works fine!
still, its still a four finger swipe to access mission control rather than the three its meant to be. no help there ;-P
I think Lion just seems to be a bit buggy at the moment, I guess that will be quite annoying if you use echofon a lot.
I am having same issue as well. All out of a sudden 3 fingers MC does not work. I need 4 fingers to do that. Reboot many times but no luck... 😟
Me too, just need to restart to have all the gestures, but after a few minutes, the same song.....
i'll wait for the fix, but is very annoying!!!!!. And why not all of us had the same problem?.
I have exactly the same issue! I hope reboot can fix this. So far updete to 10.7 has been nothing but problems.
Same issue here, but I did change the three finger to "grab and move" and when i went back in, I could no longer do the 3 finger swipe left and right to move between screens.
Yep, did some testing for that and realised as sOon as you uncheck the three finger drag, four finger mission control returns.
The three finger double tap lookup works for me if echofon for mac is closed. Using the official twitter mac app allows that to work perfectly. Weird.
My 3 and 4-finger gestures stopped working too on the Magic Trackpad. Neither a logout, restart, or quitting Echofon helped. When I try 3 fingers, it starts selectiing text in whatever app I'm in. I did not change any trackpad settings.
Tried another account and it's fine, switch back, still not working. So it is account related somehow.
Deleting the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.trackpad.plist file restored the gestures.
Looking at the old and new files showed they were different in several items including using different data types.
Just weird, but I did a spotlight search and can't find the plist file above. In fact I don't have many at all. Just weird.
