Magic Mouse Cursor Jumping to Corners after Lion update?

Subject says it all. Using the mouse normally and randomly on movement the cursor will jump to the corners of the screen. Triggering your hot corners if you have them set up.

I know other people have seen the issue. Wondering if anyone has a solution or a reason behind this? I'm currently running a Quad 27" iMac with wired Keyboard, Magic Mouse, on Lion. But some people have seen it with MBPro as well... It has nothing to do the trackpad or what surface the mouse is being used on. Never had this problem with Snow Leopard. Something in Lion. Any ideas???

My magic trackpad pointer was jumping all over the screen when I moved it. I found a little relief from removing unused bluetooth devices from System Preferences>Bluetooth settings. So far a lot of the jumping has been little to none. I believe the Bluetooth for at least the Lion software has a bug, and I am hoping an update will be release soon.

Apperently it's not an "issue" but a "feature". I have not verified this with Apple but the feature is this: If you move your mouse suddenly in a direction, the mouse will "jump" to that direction. It supposed to help with the ever larger monitors. So if your cursor is all the way on the right and you want the cursor on the left, if you quickly move it, it will jump across the screen to the left. It's an attempt to help you not have to drag the cursor all they way to the left. It does not always work when I do it but I can make it jump consistently in different directions (it takes practice). Since we all have different way of moving the mouse it means that we tend to jerk the mouse in certain directions resulting in a jumpy mouse.

I have not figured out how to turn this “feature” off but if you move the mouse slowly and be aware not to jerk it, it won’t jump.

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro (bought it in August). I have it hooked up to a 21-inch monitor and a wired Mac extended keyboard. I have a wireless Magic Trackpad, a wireless Magic Mouse, an old wireless Mac Mouse, and an old WIRED Mac Mouse. (Note that I haven't been using them all at the same time, I turn each off if they are not in use).

My pointer jumps around when I use each one. Given that the same jumpiness is occurring when I used my wired mouse, this would indicate that it is not a Bluetooth issue as some of you have mentioned...although my old wireless Mac Mouse is by far the worst performing of the four.

I already submitted my feedback in August. What a joke!

If it's a feature, then it needs a name.

UnMagical Mouse?

Mighty PainInTheNeck Mouse?

HotCornersWhenYouLeastExpectIt Mouse?

iJumpTooFarTooOften Mouse?

I just realized I should be tradmarking these ideas. You have to admit, they do describe the feature very well.

I'm not sure why anyone would want this feature. I have two LED displays, so I have a lot of display area to recover from. Acceleration is one thing, but this jump sends me all the way across both screens, right to the edge. Usually to the corners.

My work around ... I have found I save a lot of time wondering where my mouse is by right clicking every time I touch it. Don't move it. Right click it. That usually gives you a good visual and usually doesn't do any harm.

MacBook, early 2008, running Lion 10.7.

Since upgrading to Lion 3 weeks ago my cursor has been randomly jumping and moving. I can place the cursor in a typing area and it will randomly jump to something else. It doesn't matter what application I am in, but happens primarily on the internet. It will randomly open other links..etc. I can see this has been an ongoing issue by reviewing the Apple communities. The only thing I haven't done is reverted to Snow Leopard which I am about to do. Actually, while typing this, it randomly highlighted and deleted the whole paragraph!! Lucky I have edit undo!

Change the way your trackpad works

If you use a trackpad, you can change the way it works and responds in several ways. For example, you can change how fast the onscreen pointer moves when you move your finger across the trackpad and customize the gestures you use with your trackpad so it works the way you want.

The options available to you depend on the computer you’re using. For example, you can use three fingers to swipe only on some computers.

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Trackpad.

Open Trackpad preferences

Select point and click options (depending on the computer you’re using, you’ll see only some of these options):

Tap to click: If you select this option, tapping the trackpad with one finger is the same as clicking.

Secondary click: Select the option and choose “Tap with two fingers,” ”Click in bottom right corner,” or “Click in bottom left corner” to secondary (or control) click items on your screen.

Look up: Select this option so you can use three fingers to double-tap a word to look it up in the dictionary.

Three finger drag: Select this option so you can use three fingers to drag an item on your screen.

Tracking Speed: Drag the slider to set the tracking speed of the pointer when you move it across the screen.

Select scroll and zoom options (depending on the computer you’re using, you’ll see only some of these options):

Scroll with finger direction: Select this option to move the contents of a window the same direction as your fingers.

Zoom in or out: Select this option to pinch two fingers to zoom in or spread two fingers to zoom out.

Smart zoom: Select this option to double-tap with two fingers to zoom in or out.

Rotate: Select this option to use two fingers to rotate items on your screen.

Select other gestures (depending on the computer you’re using, you’ll see only some of these options):

Swipe between pages: Select this option and choose “Scroll right or left with two fingers,” “Swipe right or left with three fingers,” or “Swipe with two or three fingers” to move between pages in a document.

Swipe between full screen apps: Select this option and choose “Swipe left or right with three fingers” or “Swipe left or right with four fingers” to move between applications in full screen.

Mission Control: Select this option and choose “Swipe up with three fingers” or “Swipe up with four fingers” to enter Mission Control.

Launchpad: Select this option to pinch your thumb and three fingers to display Launchpad.

Show Desktop: Select this option and spread your thumb and three fingers to reveal your computer’s desktop.

App Exposé: Select this option and choose “Swipe down with three fingers” or “Swipe down with four fingers” to use Exposé.
