Why can't I navigate back and forth in iTunes with gestures anymore?

In leopard, with any app that has a back/forward navigation available (iTunes, AppStore), you could swipe three fingers to move back and forth. Now, in Lion, you can only swipe back/forward in safari (default is two fingers, which is fine with me)... What gives? Is there a way to turn this feature back on?

It's kind of annoying that one has to click the little [<][>] buttons to move back and forth anymore instead of swiping. With all these improvements, why remove the ones that worked before?

I still enjoy my Lion, however.

Somewhat confusingly, you do a 4 finger swipe to go back and forth in itunes and a two finger swipe to go back and forth in safari. The two finger sideways swipe in itunes is reserved for coverflow and the boxes on the itunes store.

Under System Preferences --> Trackpad --> More Gestures:

If you change the 'Swipe between pages' option to 'Swipe with two or three fingers', it allows to navigate back and forward in iTunes with three fingers. This worked for me! 🙂

in the gestures options under trackpad in preferences, go to the more gestures tab and select "swipe with two or more fingers" under under "swipe between pages..

that should make it work and I can still use the two finger swipe in safari the four finger full screen gesture and now the 3 finger back forth gesture in itunes.

Yes! Changing the 'Swipe between pages' option to 'Swipe with two or three fingers allows me to swipe backward/forward in safari with two fingers (or three to forgo the animation) and to swipe backward/forward in iTunes and other apps with three fingers! Thanks, vranjan!

I like Lion again.

OK. It seems to be working with the 'Option' key held down. I have scrolling between full-screen apps set to 'Four Fingers' and, while holding the option key, four finger swiping will now scroll back/forward in iTunes and App Store. I'm still unhappy with it. I think 2 fingers should scroll up/down/left/right, 3 finger swipe should go forward/backward, 4 fingers up should open dasboard and 4 fingers down should open launch pad. Logical, no?

Did you install iTunes 10.4? That might restore those gestures.

In something that I've chosen to file under "how messed up is this?", iTunes Store seems to support 3 finger swiping to move forwards and backwards and two finger scrolling in all directions. iTunes itself also supports two finger scrolling in all directions and three finger swiping to go backwards, but not forwards - if it helps I've attached my trackpad settings

There's one particular finger gesture I'd like to make at Apple for releasing this half thought-through operating system on the general public...(and after the confusing time I just had trying to navigate "Duplicate" and "Save a version" and other such nonsense when using Preview to convert the screenshot Grab just gave me, I'll double that Gesture)

I'll add my name to this list; iTunes, Lion 10.7, 6-bit iTunes (10.4), no gestures for navigating backward/forward in the iTunes Store working...with or without the Option key. Used to work fine in Snow Leopard. Hopefully we're all missing something...

Thanks I found this out yesterday, except it still doesn't work in iTunes. I'm saved in that it works (3-finger gestures for navigating) in the Finder, but in iTunes neithertrackpad gestures or Magic Mouse swipes are working.

On iTunes 10.4...same issue as well. No more finger gesture to move fwd or back.
