I upgraded to Lion on my Macbook Pro today.
While testing out the new features, I opened photo booth and saw the first page featuring new face tracking options, but none of them were showing up in the preview or when I tried to click on them. Also, I put my cursor over the 'Camera' option in the menu bar and the application crashed, and continues to do so.
Anyone having the same problem? Any solutions would be appreciated. Thanks : )

Yep, I have a similar issue. When I open photobooth the camera takes a little time to respond then the image keeps crashing. I tried repairing disk permissions and running in 32 bit mode but with no luck. Any solutions out there?
I just contacted Apple Support. They reckon it's a hardware problem (depite not having one a few hours ago with Snow Leopard) - they're going to get back to me.
Yeah, there have been more than a few people complaining about it.
But I actually got mine to work! I found the solution in one of the other discussions.
It turns out I had the "iGlasses" plugin running when I opened Photo Booth, and it caused Photo Booth to run in 32-bit mode. So I just removed the plugin completely. After, I right clicked on the Photo Booth application in my Finder, clicked 'get info', and unchecked the "Run in 32-bit mode" or something like that and it started working for me.

Yeah, found that post. I dont have iGlasses and it didn't help when I opened Photo booth in 32 bit mode either.😟
Photo booth new version showed up and then reverted back to the old version after one attempt. Audio does not work either now. Same thing happened on my husband's computer.

I had the same problem and it has nothing to do with Lion. The way to fix this is to go to your applications folder, find Photo booth and click it once, then Get info. In the get info window that pops out uncheck where it says "view in 32 bit". Close that window and eun photo booth again and all the new effects will now work. Hope this helps, it worked for me.

Thanks for your support guys but this hasn't worked either. I get the same problem with any app that has to use the isight camera - photobooth, facetime, preview when I try to capture a signature! Apple say it's a hardware problem they're gonna come and fix. I'll keep you updated!
HEY THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION.. I REMOVED IGLASSES AND UNCHECKED 32 BIT CHECKBOX. THE NEW EFFECTS ARE WORKING NOW. THOUGH I CANT TELL YOU ABOUT CRASHING OF PHOTOBOOTH COZ EARLIER IT WAS CRASHING ALOT. BUT EFFECTS ARE WORKING FOR ME.

Have the same problem...so when i tried to delete a photo, the PhotoBooth crash out!. I don't have the iGlasses plugin...so I don't know what happened... 😟
Thank you Carlos, unchecking the "view in 32 bit mode" did the trick. I did not have to remove iGlasses either.

Not a hardware problem. Click on the "get info" when photobooth app is highlighted and uncheck the "view in 32 bit mode".
Works great.
