That is an intermittent bug that has been showing up occasionally in various releases. It's irritating, I know.
The workaround is to right-click the track and choose "Add To Playlist."
I'm running 10.6.8 and upgraded to iTunes 10.4 only to have this happen on my MP. Talked to Apple and they're adding it to "bug list".
I have run into this same issue and also found the work-around of right-clicking and selecting "Add to Playlist". Unfortunately, I found a related issue: I cannot drag to sort my playlist. Sorting by the various fields still works, but I cannot manually move one file around like I could before.
Same as me... I can't rearrange playlists manually or add purchased songs to my iPod manually either. This is a problem and it *****!
I've tried every key combination while trying to grab the song and moving it. Nothing works. They need to fix this like NOW!!!
If I can contribute to the discussion, I'm having the same issue on my MacBook Pro, but only when I try dragging tracks with my mouse. When I drag with my trackpad it works fine. Can anyone else confirm this in their case?
Im not seeing this on my iMac either.
Is anyone using a Wacom tablet? If not what specific mouse/pointing device are you using?
WTH.
Yup, I'm using a wacom tablet with the issue too. Just tried with a regular USB mouse and I don't have the problem. So maybe it's an issue with wacom drivers?
I'm using a wacom and just switched to a USB mouse and iTunes issue is resolved so it does seem to be the wacom driver
Well, I don't see any mention of an updated Lion drivers on Wacom's site, but heres a link to the driver download page and a link to their online community.
WTH.
I updated to the latest driver right after I installed Lion, so I can confirm (for at least the Graphire 4 which uses the Bamboo drivers) that this won't fix anything.
I'm having this issue with Snow Leopard. Can't manually add new music, same with apps in iTunes. Also having syncing problems with iPhone 4.
I am using a WACOM tablet. Why would this be the problem?
I hadn't thought about that, but yes, the issues occur when I use my Wacom tablet and disappears when I use my USB mouse.
Yup, Wacom drivers seem to cause a lot of minor annoyances in OS X. In Snow Leopard I was constantly having issues with my mouse dragging a file and not being able to drop it, as well as changing spaces and having the spaces icon in the middle of the screen freeze.
So will Apple look into this or is this a WACOM issue and left up to them? I guess I waisted money on my tablet. Bummer!
