You didn't waste your money on a tablet just because you can't drag tracks with it in iTunes...but I'd assume there are issues on both fronts. The Wacom mouse still acts as an ordinary mouse, I don't understand why iTunes' dragging functionality would make an exception with it. Hopefully Apple can address this one.
It's probably a Wacom issue.
They made an accessory that is supposed to work with Mac OS X, but Lion wasn't available when they sold the tablet, so they have to update their drivers to be compatible with Lion.
They're probably already aware of the conflicts, but it wouldn't hurt to create a thread on their online community or contact them.
WTH.
I can confim, as well, that my Wacom driver is causing the issue. I switched to a Logitech mouse and all seems to be well. I have an old Apple Bluetooth mouse, but that keeps losing its connection...
Apple, please don't forget the fix also the scrolling bug on itunes with wacom (since november 2011).
I have a Wacom tablet and exactly the same problem. If that's the case for you I suggest going to Wacom's site and post a request to update the drivers: http://community.wacom.com/forums/
Just to throw my own experience into the mix, I too am having the same problem on my Macbook Pro (only I can't add songs to my iPod; I have no problem adding tracks to iTunes playlists), and I too have a Wacom tablet. However, the problem persists even when I use my Macbook's trackpad or my Logitech mouse, which makes me think the issue isn't just with the Wacom driver (though a Lion update for that would still be nice.)
A workaround to adding songs to your iPod, though, is to create a new playlist in iTunes with the songs you'd like to add and then autofilling your iPod from that playlist.
Here's to a resolution to whatever is causing this bug!
Guys,
Do you have the scroll "shaking" problem ?
Thanks
I've been having the same problem since I upgraded to iTunes 10.4. I use an old dinosaur Wacom that I don't even know the name of, and it worked fine until yesterday. While I won't rule out the possibility that it's a wacom problem (the most recent driver for mine is from several years ago), I've found that my tablet works perfectly fine clicking and dragging in every other program except iTunes. I think it's an iTunes problem -- which is why I'm taking this up here instead of with Wacom.
For now I guess I'll have to use the trackpad with iTunes. Sigh.
I hope the itunes staff can look into this for the next little mini-release thing (10.4.1? or however it is they go about numbering these things).
I really wish I had better news for y'all but I can confirm that it is a wacom driver issue. I uninstalled the wacom driver and whilst installing the latest driver for my intuos 4 I jumped over to itunes and was able to drag songs. When the install was complete I was no longer able to drag songs. Sheesh. Really? talk about a random issue. Like you y'all I have no idea whose side the problem lies on. Thanks all.
I have found that moving the Wacom mouse fast and clicking while moving, it will "pick up" the song or songs and then they can be dropped into a playlist, or into the ipod. Takes a bit of practice though.....
paulg you are a genius. Just tried that on my system (iMac, Lion, Intuos 4, iTunes) and it works when I grab it.
Should've known, all I needed was to grab with some gusto!
...obviously this is still an issue, but at least there's a stop-gap solution in the meantime! Thank you again.
Holy crap, it worked! It's a bit easier with the pen, thanks a lot.
Hey all. Just Did the two updates. Lion 10.7.1 and iTunes 10.4.1. No fix for me and my Wacom Intuos 4. I don't mind the "gusto grabbing" but it's not right. I shouldn't have to concentrate that hard to move a song. Can I get an Amen? Hopefully SOMEONE near and dear to apple uses a Wacom and they can get the fix planned for the next update. I've learned to keep my old timey mighty mouse nearby while making playlists or moving a lot of music, sigh. Was real excited to see the updates for both (iTunes and OSL) but alas... thx all.
I'm so glad I've made a habit of NOT updating to latest updates right away. iTunes 10.4 update reminder kept popping up, but I kept hitting 'Later'. They updated the Macs at work, that's how I found out about this issue. I find it a little disconcerning that I have to keep second guessing Apple these days. But it wouldn't be unwarranted. I haven't even jumped on the Lion bandwagon, and probably won't, at least until several updates, or even the next upgrade. Been hearing too many issues online. 10.6.8 is running just fine for me. Why change now. I don't think Apple is going to fix this, it will be up to Wacom to provide an updated driver.
Here's an interesting tidbit for y'all...
I don't even have a wacom tablet or software installed, and the only way I can drag songs in iTunes is with "gusto dragging." This is OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.4 and 10.5.
