Lion kills SoundTrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro and Color

After installing Lion on my cloned boot drive FCP 7.0.3 runs but SoundTrack pro, DVD Studio Pro and Color return an error message indicating Lion can't run PowerPC programs. They also have a white slashed circle over them indicating they aren't compatible.

This wasn't a widely advertised restriction of Lion prior to its release.

I'm thankful I have a fully operating Snow Leopard installation.

I thought I had already posted a reply to this but the fault was an installation problem and was cured by copying the applications from my Snow Leopard drive to the Mac Lion drive.

SoundTrack Pro, Color etc all work correctly under Lion since that fix.

I don't know if this was a one off fault on my system or others have suffered it but luckily I was able to fix it.

Interesting. I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro that already had the full Final Cut Studio suite installed when I upgraded to Lion. Those programs are still running fine. Today I tried to install DVD Studio Pro on a brand new iMac, also running Lion. The computer refused to run the install, and pointed out that it is a Power PC application.

REALLY REALLY bad solution.

OSX 10.6 and 10.7 are very different beasts. If you have issues with a ProApps install, the better way is to use Digital Rebellion's FCP remover to delete the whole FCS package from your hard drive and do a clean installation."

REALLY REALLY bad response seeing that the installers for FCS package won't work under Lion or Mountain Lion because they are Power PC Apps.

Lion kills SoundTrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro and Color
