MacBook Pro with Lion can no longer share screen

I upgraded my home MacBook Pro to Lion. Now, I can no longer share this computer's screen. I can view screens of Macs shared me from the Lion MacBook Pro, but other Macs cannot view my shared screen. If they try to connect, they never get beyond the "Connectig to [My Mac's Name]..." status window.

I checked the settings and turned sharing on and off. I've tried from other Macs on my home network and on remote Macs via the Internet. None work.

I have a MobileMe account with Back to My Mac turned on. Screen sharing is on and I have three users accounts listed.

Any suggestions?

Hi guys,

Unchecking and rechecking remote management on the client machine doesn't work for me. unchecking AFP and checking SMB doesn't work for me either. anyone else still having issues after trying the fix?

Not sure if this subtle difference is even worth mentioning but I wasn't using Report Management to control screen sharing so for me, I actually checked then unchecked (as opposed to unchecking and rechecking) the Report Management sharing option.

Toggling "Report Management" sharing ON/OFF on the client side fixes the screen sharing problem, but not necessarily permenantly. I've had to repeat this trick about once per day in order to keep scree sharing alive and well.

Really? that is a strange one. the fix has stuck here thankfully. But my guess is that it is a genuine bug , so question is: will is be fixed in 10.7.1 or 10.7.2 (or any other). Time will tell.

I was having a slightly different issue - wanting to screen share without having to accept the invitation on the target machine (which is new in 10.7 - was working fine in 10.6). But - in the process of trouble shoooting, I had several episodes of failing to connect. See my post linked below - but in particular, restarting the machines in question and clearing the Keychain entries of the originating machine seemed to restore normal connectivity.

I've clicked on/off Remote Management on the client computer half a dozen times, attempted every possible combination of File sharing and Remote management options. All my computers (4) can connect and share freely except I cannot screen-share between my iMac and Powerbook from the iMac. I can share screens in every direction perfectly, but no matter how I'm set I get the same "lost connection" message when attempting to share-screen on the powerbook from the iMac. I have been screen sharing in this direction with never a glitch, every day for well over a year. Then suddenly, for no apparent reason it refuses to go...

this is for after you have it working in Lion, as there are lot of other small problems to overcome 🙂 I finally tried another router, and that seemed to help as well with afp/and remote connections...cheers!
