I installed Lion today and when it finally installed, I discovered I was no longer able to open Sibelius 4 as "PowerPC applications are no longer supported".
I'm hoping that, as with every other upgrade that has eluded the Sibelius makers, they will provide an upgrade that sorts this, but I wanted to ask here to see if anyone else was having issues.

Rosetta is no longer part of OS X beginning with Lion therefore all PPC apps will not work. They need to be updated to Intel based apps and if the product is no longer being developed an alternative will need to be found.
You assume that an upgrade makes your computer better, would not you?
Yes of course but I would do my due diligence before diving in, like I would with any major project.

Just use Pages and then use the export feature to export it to a Word doc. It's ridiculous to have to pay for stuff like that every time they fix bugs. That's partially why I switched to Mac anyway. So yeah, just use Pages, when you're done hit Export -> Export as Word Doc -> Save
I'm having problems with the same thing. Im trying to open my CCRN review cd and it says PowerPC applications no longer supported. Why is that so?! I thought mac is the top of the line in laptop computers. But apparently, its not. Will you apple guys be able to fix this? Thinking of going back to windows.....

Because the supplier of CCRN is too lazy, cheap or not competent to bring their software up to date.
No. Apple has dropped support for PowerPC and will not be bringit back or as you call it fixing it. Apple considers the PowerPC history.
If you want to go back to PC, bye. That threat carrys no weight here.

I was having this problem with my new iMac, Lion OS, and found a thread about pulling Rosetta from the Snow Leopard OS to act as a bridge. I did this and was able to use Rosetta to link and install an older version of Final Cut. Now, though, I'm having trouble using Rosetta to link with other, smaller applications (like Silverfast, etc). Any other suggestions?
I'd love to see the link to that thread. Can you post it, please. It was a small miracle if you were able to get any PPC app working in 10.7. You're sure the Final Cut version wasn't universal?

Which version of Final Cut is this?
Me too. I tried installing Rosetta in Lion with no luck, (even though the Snow Leopard disk let's you do it). After installing, I checked for hidden files. There were a few missing and I copied them from SL to Lion into the same location. Still doesn't work.
I think the basic support for PPC code in general has been completely pulled from Lion. I doubt very much Rosetta will ever work beyond Snow Leopard.

Hi, do you have any imput on notepad? I wrote a lot of notes and can't open them, is another app I need to install?
Notepad is a Windows program, I don't do Windows
