PowerPC applications no longer supported...Lion

I installed Lion today and when it finally installed, I discovered I was no longer able to open Sibelius 4 as "PowerPC applications are no longer supported".

I'm hoping that, as with every other upgrade that has eluded the Sibelius makers, they will provide an upgrade that sorts this, but I wanted to ask here to see if anyone else was having issues.

Thanks in advance!

Rosetta is no longer part of OS X beginning with Lion therefore all PPC apps will not work. They need to be updated to Intel based apps and if the product is no longer being developed an alternative will need to be found.

If you can open it with ShowPackageContents it is not a standard Notepad file.

"Locked DueTo Not Opening the File for a while" is specific for Lion and in particilar TimeMachine, which locks file that are not edited for 2 weeks: you can change that in SystemPreferences>TimeMachine>Options (if you uncheck that, it will not lock at all)

I have no experience with Sibelius 4, but googling it I find that it is music notation software and their website indicates that Sibelius 7 is compatible with Lion.

In the interim, or if you have other PowerPC Apps that require Rosetta, you can continue to work with most of them in Snow Leopard installed in Parallels 7 in Lion:

For those of you who had to use time machine to salvage a suddenly dead macbook (like I did), after you go through the trouble of re-authorizing your copy of mac Office 2011, you may suddenly get this error message. I did. Dont panic. Just uninstall the copy of office and then simply re-install it. It seems to be working fine now. Hopefully this will help alieviate the rage that I felt. (I am having jsut a terrible time with virtually all of my software programs after deploying the time machine)

Have a happy new year!
