Lion - Horrible MacBook Pro Battery Life

After upgrading to Lion, my MacBook Pro battery life has been severly affected. After 1.5 hours of light web browsing, my battery has decreased to 40% from 100% after charging all night.

Notes: Spotlight completed indexing the hard drive over night, and the laptop remained plugged in charging. The fans seem to be running normally, not at a higher rate. The backlight is at 50% brightness.

Thoughts?

Just got 5 hours of use out of my Early 2011 17" MBP (2.2GHz 8GB 256GB SSD) straight after installing 10.7.1

When I first posted on this thread after upgrading to Lion I was getting ~3 hours.

Since then the only things I have done are an SMC reset and installed 10.7.1

No, I am not saying that 10.7.1 specifically fixed the issue...

What I am seeing, however, is that with each use to a fully discharged state and with each reboot, I seem to be getting longer battery life...

Anyone else seeing this?

Is there some kind of learning effect going on, perhaps...

BTW - is this deja vu? Do I vaguely recall MBP battery life issues after Leopard or Snow Leopard was released???

After speaking with Apple Customer Care they told me to recalibrate the battery and doing so made a huge difference. I didn't believe it at the beginning but now I can clearly see the difference. Steps:

- run the computer on battery until it shuts down and then fully recharge -> do this TWO times

Now I get around 7hours on MBP 2011 i5 4GB (this are early tests but it is working somehow - after getting 3hours on a full charge without calibration but with SMC reset).

Hope this helps : )

The readings I got were with Mail, Safari, iTunes, Twitter and Calendar Bar running. Screen brightness was at 50%.

My MBP has been asleep for about 8 hours and has used another 5% of the battery which is similar to what would happen when I used Snow Leopard. Over 5 hours of battery life remaining. I'm happy with that. In fact it's now saying 6+ hours.

my better ludgement tells me to wait but I cant help it. I wanna give 10.7.1 a chance so I took time to bring back lion from a time machine restore.

Jus today, without battery callibration or reseting of SMC, my battery has lasted 4hrs so far with 1 hour left on the estimate. this means that I would easily squeeze 5 hours fromt he battery.

My MBP is not overheating and the memory seems to be stable.... so far so good.
