Unable to search network drives with Lion...

Do you really think they don't know and you and you alone will have to report this? I don't mean to be rude, but please read thru and see -its been reported... Many times.

Well, that could be the reason, but why it worked until I installed 10.7.5? Btw, there is many, many other people with the same problem after installing 10.7.5.

LostAccount, thanks a lot for tryting to help. However, I tried all what you suggest a long time ago without any successes. I'm worry this time it's really Apple's fault and bug in their update 😟

I really hate this but i solved with the free utility EasyFind (you can find it in the App Store).

The problem we had with Spotlight on a MacOSX Server was de Font.mdimporter.

It crashes on corrupt fonts.

So we trashed the Font.mdimporter and never had any problems again with Spotlight.

Running 10.8.2 here and still having the same propblem as OP with SMB share. Given it seems to work once and a while, but rarely. Has there been an official fix from Apple?

It's not broken.

Please read the very last message in this thread prior to yours. You may be facing an issue but not related to anything broken with search.

Unfortunately that didn't work for me. After multiple hours of spotlight rebuilding, I still can't find anything on my SMB mount through Spotlight. The SMB file system is running on Windows 7.

Anyone tried with Maverik beta?

Along the lines of Patoil's question -- was this issue resolved in Mountain Lion?

Yeah, seems to be resolved with Mountain Lion until Apple decide we don't need to search network drives again!

I have used the same solution (cifs://servername) on both OSX Mavericks and Mountain Lion.

Forgot to mention that my solution was used on both OSX Mavericks Beta and Mountain Lion.
