I only found out about Quicken not working in Lion after upgrading. Anyway to migrate the Quicken data? Can you migrate back to Leopard?

I upgraded to Lion not knowing about PowerPC apps not working with Lion. I know can not access my financial data. Is there a way to get the data and migrate it to Quicken Essentials, or reverse migrate back to Leopard?

I found a possible solution that doesn't involve migrating back to Leopard. This only works if you want to use Quicken Essentials.

Quicken Essentials has a data migration tool that will convert the Quicken data file from Quicken 2007 to the Quicken Essentials format (.QXF). But the tool only works on Leopard. So if you have access to another Mac that still has Leopard you can copy your data file to that Mac and run the migration tool that comes with Quicken Essentials, then copy that file back to your Mac with Lion.

If you are looking for a more robust tool for your finances than what Quicken Essentials offers then you'll need to do go back to Leopard or search for another workaround.

Quicken is working towards an update to the tool so it will work on Lion but no ETA yet.

Intuit has had the opportunity to play with Lion for some time now, yet they still don't have a simple conversion tool? Shameful. Plus they're foisting off a dumbed-down version of Quicken on Mac users only, while offering the full Quicken only for Windows? Intuit doesn't care about their Mac customers. Try something like iBank rather than betting your data on the continued existence of a product made by a company that isn't interested in you.

I tried this. Right now Quicken is offering QE 2010 at a 50% discount but it still would not convert my data. The only assistance was for me to send them a link to my Quicken file and they would convert it. I REALLY didn't feel comfortable so I just requested a refund. I am going to switch to some other personal finance package. Quick Books had an ungrade the first day so that was great but Quick Books isn't good for personal finances. I would say that if you are a Quicken for Mac user, DON'T bother going to QE 2010. Either don't upgrade to Lion or find another finance software.
