AFP - LaCie Network Space 2 - Not Working on OSX Lion 10.7

Hi,

This morning I upgraded to OS X LION 10.7.

after the upgrade my Lacie Network Space (NAS) isn't working anymore over the AFP protocol.

this is the error I got :

User uploaded file

ps: the xxxx should be an ip address but I photoshoped it, cause i don't like private information to be leaked.

Anyone who has the same problem. I contacted LaCie support line, they say it's a known problem at every NAS manufacturer and it's apple to do an update for this issue.

Hello,

I hope this helps others.

I'm running netatalk on my home NAS, this is a common solution for linux based NAS solutions.

Mine happens to be Seagate GoFlex.

I recently ran into the same problem as many others have posted on this forum.

In my case there was a simple solution...

I had to modify the owner:group:permissions for the mount point of my AFP volume.

On my device, owner needed to be apache, group users, and permissions rwxrwxr-x.

Please note that group "users" matches the group membership for users on the GoFlex, your's may be different.

The UNIXfu for setting this correctly for mount point /mnt/myraid is as follows:

(note you must be logged in as root)

# service atalk stop

# chown apache:users /mnt/myraid

# chmod 775 /mnt/myraid

# service atalk start

For those who have issue to update their NS2 from 1.0.2 to 1.2.5 through LNA, please follow this :

Network recommendations for Share Update

Stop any transfers to the NAS

Stop all downloads, backups, copies, and programs that access or run from your LaCie device

Disconnect all shares on the NAS you want to update from every machine connected to it.

Share Update Steps :

Get the 1.2.5 or 1.2.9 (this is the one I used and it worked) Update Capsule from LaCie Web Site or from Tech Support.

Connect to share named “MyShare”, and put Update capsule file in it. (only available for 1.0.2 version)

Restart your device by using Web interface, or by using Power Button.

DO NOT DISCONNECT POWER CABLE TO RESTART THE DEVICE

Please be patient as the update may take some time. It is critical that the LaCie device remains powered on while the update is running.

DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR DEVICE DURING UPDATE. (Or you might brick the darn black box!)

Your LaCie device will reboot twice, a first time after you asked for restart, to begin the update and a second time automatically when it has finished. Do not be concerned if your LaCie device boots slower than usual as it is normal during an update.

At this point you will be able to update to the latest version 2.0.5.

I had to shut down and resart net drive a third time AND retart the Lacie Network Assistant App to get it to 'see' the network drive.
