My iTunes visualizer's(Jelly, lathe, stix) disappeared after installing lion

After installing Lion today, I noticed that these visualizers disappeared in itunes. I went to each individual file in the Library folders and saw that they were not set to be opened by quicktime but another app. Also I noticed that the quart composer visualizer.bundle was not set to open in itunes. I fixed both of these, but itunes still did not recognize them. Not sure what else to do.

I may also be experiencing a similar problem, since the upgrade I have not been able to launch iTunes 10.4.

When I launch it throws up an "iTunes quit unexpectedly". I reviewed the system.log and found the following error occurs each time I try to launch iTunes.

"com.apple.iTunes[813]: The plugin 'Quartz Composer Visualizer' failed to load because it has the wrong CPU architecture for this version of iTunes. (3585)"

Any idea where I can go from here to get this fixed?

Hello nkatariya,

I was about to post the same "problem" till I saw yours.

Yes I noticed too that all the other "better" visualizers have disappeared from my iTunes too.

I suspect either they were not compatible with the current iTunes/Lion in some way, or maybe they think since maybe many of us do not really use or go into Visualizer, they decided to omit them?

Actually Jelly is my fav. :-)

To me this would be a very small problem since it will not affect my mac's working operations, stability etc.

Thanks and cheers

The Jelly visualizer, along with the other missing visualizers will re-appear if you select iTunes to open in 32-bit mode. To do so, complete the following steps.

1. Quit iTunes

2. Access the "Applications" folder and locate the iTunes app.

3. Either right-click (ctrl-click) on the icon or click on the File menubar, then select "Get Info" (Command-I).

4. In the dialog window box that appears, underneath the Label section, you will see a small square box that says "Open in 32-bit mode".

5. Check the box and close the dialog window.

6. Re-open iTunes and under the "View" menu, select "Visualizer" and you will see the various visualizers now reappearing, including the "Jelly" visualizer.

Hope this helps!

I just got a weird message from iTunes that is was starting in safe mode due to visualizer plugins installed. I quit it and launched it again then got an unexpected error message and it couldn't launch.

I waited a bit, planned to restart but never did, and opened iTunes again. It verified my library and I haven't had an issue since.

I think this problem was fixed in 10.8 with 64-bit plugins. Yet another reason I'm glad I skipped 10.7!
