Internet Sharing not working after Lion install

I used 'Ethernet' and it's working flwalessly. I have connected a few OS X Macs and Windows PC's with the same network and they all have internet. If it works under 'Bluetooth DUN', and you're using your ethernet cable modem connected to your Mac and not your Bluetooth integrated device, then there's a bug.

Indeed. Try changing the network's name and enter your password again. Wi-Fi should automatically create the network and enable internet sharing.

I'm not using ethernet cable... just a USB stick modem. I really only want WiFi from my iMac to my Apple TV 2 for watching content that is already on my iMac. It is working perfectly with the setting I described.

ive got the same problem, until now, i can't make it work properly, i miss the arrow symbol on my wi-fi icon.

Tried the HeFe&1234 solution at creativeilog.blogspot.com but it has no effect on my mbp. The wifi icon never changes to the upward arrow and the computer is not discoverable by other devices. It just keeps on with conventional wifi. Lion seems to be plagued by similar "improvements"...

I'm on 10.7.2 and they haven't fix this problem.

Most of trick I found in boards, forum, and blogs didn't work for me.

Change DHCP to manual. Change its name with shorter one. Change channel.

No, I don't want to buy a wi-fi router.

Have both my iPad and iPhone connected via my MBP's ethernet connection.

I was starting to worry that Apple really screwed the pooch on this.

On Lion 10.7.3 the workaround for me was to disable and re-enable Internet Sharing in System Preferences. And then use "DHCP with manual IP adress" setting with addres 10.0.2.1 . It works both for WEP protected and open ad hoc network.

I was killing myself, found the fix for those of you who are sharing your WIFI connection over Ethernet, which is backwards from what most posts were doing.

I turned off all internet connection sharing.

I deleted the following files:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.nat.plist /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist

restarted

Turned on internet connection sharing

Boom, now I can AGAIN, share the WIFI internet from my iMac to my ethernet connected MBP...Hope this works for others, OH, this is an old thread!!!! oh well, still adding to the knowledge base I guess.
