Internet Sharing not working after Lion install

Hi,

I've just upgraded to Lion and I can't get internet sharing, which was working brilliantly in Snow Leopard, to work at all.

I have reset it numerous times, changed the passwords, created new accounts but I still can't get it to work.

I use it as my home and office network and it is very important.

If anyone has had any similar problems I would be much obliged if you could share some light on this. I have read other people having issues, some managed to resolve them. But I have had no joy.

Any brave soul out there have any brilliant ideas?

hi, I looked at the post you mentioned before as well, but no luck as you say. Lion already says WIFI.

I did shorten the name of the computer as identified in the post, but it doesnt work.

I was in a hotel using snow leopard with internet sharing enabled with no problem. I upgraded and immediately could not use any anymore. It has got to be a bug they need to resolve.

I am having the same problems. Was using Internet sharing at a hotel, with snow leopard and upgraded to Lion and now it doesnt work. What gives?

I do have the same problem indeed, and noticed some interesting details.

In my home I used to share a PPPoE/Ethernet connection through my iMac. It puts my Macbook, iPhone and my gf's PC online.

After upgrading to Lion however, it puts none of them online.

If I change the "Share your connection from" option to one of my VPNs, I can get online with my Macbook, but not my iPhone or my gf's PC.

Apart from that, it doesn't work no matter how many times I change password, channel, or other options.

Hope Apple comes up with a solution before next working week starts!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any updates on this. There is this link on

but their answer seems to be somehting to do with the airport command still being active instead of the new WIFI in Lion. However I don't have this airport option. Since I installed Lion it has always said WIFI. Whether there is something deeper in the system that is still saying Airport is another question.

I might try deleting my old Airport preferences as they may be causing the trouble and I will get back and post if this works.

My internet sharing is also still broken even after changing the configuration from Airport to Wifi.

Irony: One day I purchase and register Applecare on my month old computer, still under the standard warranty. The next I call Applecare support to ask them about these Internet Sharing problems. Applecare support says, "we don't support Internet Sharing, will there be anything else or can I hang up on you now?". Ugh... making me regret spending more for this "premium" support.

Hmm I don't know how that solution could help me because I am trying to do the opposite sharing (I want to share from my wifi connection to my ethernet, essentially letting me use my Macbook as a wireless ethernet bridge). Same as you, though, worked perfectly under Snow Leopard, and I am 100% positive that it was the upgrade to Lion that broke it.

CAVEAT!! OK Yes my internet sharing is now working and I have the up pointing arrow, which I didnt have.

BUT the two computers I had linked to this wireless network cannot connect properly to it. They try too, they can see it but the connection is weak and doesnt really work.

I change it over to the machine with Snow Leopard and everything works.

There is srtill something fishy with Internet Sharing in Lion imo...
