Lion OS 10.7: Problem connecting to server

Hi,

Ever since I upgraded to Lion yesterday morning, I keep getting these random pop up windows that say:

"There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type "file:" are not supported."

This seems to happen repeatedly and for no reason on the three different wi-fi locations I've been on in the last couple of days. I doesn't seem to effect my actual connection though. Just really annoying.

Any ideas?

I turned off TM and haven't had the pop-up since/yet. Of course, I'm not recommending avoiding backups but to tell you the truth, I'm not even sure if I want to keep Lion on my computer so I don't really want to do a back up of it right now. If and when I do, I'll write in and let everyone know whether I'm having the issue again.

Cheers everyone!

I had the same problem. Not sure if this is helpful to everyone but it may point you in the right direction.

I had an Airport Extreme connected via Ethernet. And connected to that Airport device I had a USB Hard Drive.

A week ago I move the USB drive to another point - while still on Snow Leopard.

I had Synk Pro doing my backups to and from that USB drive.

After moving the USB HDD I had no errors under Snow Leopard.

But as soon as I installed Lion it kept looking for (through Synk Pro) the USB device and reporting an error.

So somehow Lion is more fussy about which drive is where and what is accessing it.

As I say, not everyone's solution but maybe the fact that Lion is more fussy than SL may point you in a direction you haven't as yet explored.
