Dear ndamonoarfa

Thank you for your reply... surely apple is brilliant... but Here in Nepal, the App stores are available only to sell new products and send the products to apple if it is still under warranty (1 years normally)... after that they refuse to help the costumers because they only want to sell rather to help the minor problems to get repaired.....

And the products of apple are also very much sophisticated that no ordinary technician dare to repair it.. on the one hand apple has its own value but on the other hand it is not reliable in the case of such problems like wifi dimmed in my case... as the focus of costumer service must be respected to all over the world like the selling very new products...

seya never bring my device to the apple store but no comments or solution from the store because my device is out of warranty. they say can only repair or exchange the device is still under warranty ...
I've tried reinstalling the software and all the ways I have tried but nothing works ..
and finally I ventured to dismantle the hardware, but it still does not work well "is still good wifi colored gray / can not be activated"
one successful way is to save it into the freezer for 1 hour, but unfortunately it did not last long.
if anyone can provide a solution to this problem, maybe he was an angel for iphone users.

Good luck! I noticed several weeks ago my phone calls came in unknown including my contact in my phone. Then I noticed wifi not working last week. I went to apple received a new phone, got home same thing. I've had my phone for 7 months so they exchanged due to Warranty. Still no wifi after receiving the new phone on 7/9/13. Reset entire phone wifi still grayed out. iPad 3 working as well as old iPhone that I'm using for iPod music and pics. Husbands equipment working and laptops on wifi. They suggested getting yet another phone because it must be a software issue. Not sure what else to do this not right!

I'm having the same problem. I turned off the airplane mode and now the wifi is flipping back and forthe between not connected and my Apple Network but the Apple Network doesn't stay on. The wifi goes back to not connected. I am able to get into Safari and Facebook but I can't get into Google. Wondering if it is Google that is screwing it up.

Add me to the list of people whose wifi hasn't worked properly since I updated to iOS7, except mine is an iPhone 5. Ironically, my iPad 2 connects just fine to wifi at home. I've tried most of the tricks listed in this thread (other than the freezer/fridge thing!); but nothing helps. I would think Apple would take notice when more than 20,000 users are checking out this thread because they're having problems!!

When will you be fixing this, Apple?

You may want to try the fridge hint. I had the same issue now the 2nd time with iPhone 4S. The wifi was grayed out for about two weeks now.

I was skiing yesterday (-4C) for 2hrs. Afterwards I noticed that wifi came on and my phone connected to my home wifi. I have read on other posts that this is a hardware issue and there is no real fix for this. Apparently, you need to shock your device, meaning heat it up (hair dryer, leave it exposed to sun) and subsequently put it into a plastic bag and cool it in a fridge for 20-30 min. I know it may sound crazy, but it did work.

It is indeed a shame for Apple not making any acknowledgment that some of their devices have this problem.

Another surprise I learned is that when I was looking for some online support and had to enter my phone's serial number, I received a message that as per Apple's records the phone with the serial number has been returned and exchanged. This makes me wonder how Apple gets rid of returned phones. It seems they sell them off to some distributors in the developing countries where they re-enter the market. I bought mine a year ago in Dubai as "new".

Hey Everyone,

I have found a solution that worked on my iPhone 4S. I have had wifi working continuously for a week now. I can come and go from my house and it connects right back up every time. Before it wouldn't detect or was greyed out and couldn't even turn wifi on.

So this is what I did.

1st - I did the heating your phone trick, except I didn't use a blow dryer. I placed it under a lamp that gets super hot for about ten mins. Until my screen said "iphone to hot has to cool before use".

I then waited tell it cooled off tried the wifi and no luck.

2nd - put my phone in airplane mode did a hard reset

3rd - still in airplane mode took my SIM card out and did another hard reset

4th - with SIM card still out turn airplane mode off, once again I did another hard reset. This time as the apple sign came on I never let go of the home button, the phone just flashed the apple button for awhile I think I held it for 30-45secs.

5th - I then let it boot all the way up, I left the SIM card out and tried my wifi it connected no problem. I then put my SIM card back in and haven't had a problem since.

Since I've done this I have had to reboot my router for computer purposes and my iphone never had issues connecting again. It comes on and off as it should.

Hope other people have success with this. So Glad I have save myself $199 on buying a new phone.

Good luck everyone!

I'm having issues with my iPhone 4S wifi which started just before I updated but I am not updating my iPad as many posts say the same thing has happened with them.

Apple are fully aware of the issue with the update and the wifi issues but their lack of response is a joke. It's ridiculous people are resorting to heating or freezing their phones to get them to work. Apple mist be reading that people are resorting to this but simply don't care.

It seems it is luck as to who you speak to that devcides what kind of service you get. I've been forced to email tim cook and uk customer service as their support staff are simply not interested.

If apple create an update that causes an issue they should at least respond to those effected by it.

Phone is useless without wifi won't be buying from apple again.
