Lion graphics extremely slow with Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB

Made a clean install with Lion and it now turns out that the graphics (Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB) on my Core 2 Duo iMac are way to slow (or insufficient VRAM) for the Lion UI.

Especially fullscreen apps animations and opening Launchpad folders are extremely choppy. Not much fun the way it is.

I mean come on, a mac, which can play WoW pretty well should be able to push 2D Graphics around, right?

When booting up the UI is fast, but after letting the iMac on for a while or waking it from sleep the graphics are choppy again.

Anyone else having this problem?

Kersten

Hello, I've read all posts but I now I don't know what to do anymore....

I've got a problem with my iMac being very slow. It takes at least 3 minutes to start up a webbrowser. Safari, Firefox, Chrome it doesn't matter which one. But also all my other programs it takes at least that much time to start up any of them. Could this be the same problem?

I've got an iMac 24,5 inch 2007, 2,8 Ghz intel core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR3 sdram, ati radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB. OS X 10.8.5 installed.

I regularly clean my mac with Mackeeper. and all software is uptodate.

Thanks

The Kext fix is definitely working on 10.8.5!

@Wolflady

Is your ML installation an older / updated one? or is it a clean installation?

Apply the combo update 10.8.5 and not the Delta (store) update.

Restore permissions

Run a app from the store "ccleaner" (cleans tmp/cache files) you lose your cookies/saved passwords in cookies etc... (it is disabable).

Still no result?

Backup your iphoto/outlook/dokument/music etc.. and do a fresh clean install of ML with a HD format.

Then apply the 10.8.5 combo update en the Kext fix
