They seriously just took another payment. I tried changing my itunes payment type to my debit card, but it's telling me to enter a valid security code. My card is valid, so is my code. Why isn't this situation under control yet? Has anyone else had success in changing payment method in the app store or itunes from paypal to their debit card? I was assured on the phone today that no more payments would be taken from me by Apple, but they took another one less than 10 minutes ago. This makes mine a total of 10 payments for Lion, over a span of 4 days with multiple charges on each day. Now I'm just sitting back watching all my money get taken with nothing I can do. We'll see what happens tomorrow. This is the last chance I'm giving them. If I have refunds tomorrow, then that shows that things are happening and the problem is being addressed. If I don't have refunds tomorrow, and my account gets worse, then I will have to seek help elsewhere.

@csound1: It's not paypal's fault, nor is it my banks. It is solely apple's fault. They are the one's taking the money. I addressed the issue to them on Friday, they assured me no more money would be taken. I couldn't call them on the weekend because they were closed, and today I was told again that they would not take any more transactions at all. It's done, and now we wait for things to smooth out. After I got off the phone they took another transaction...It's Apple's fault, and they are pointing the blame everywhere else. Are you experiencing this problem too? Or are ya just trollin? If you are having this issue, how does it affect you?

The problem is that although you can call your bank/card provider you have already given the right to charge your account to PayPal and by extension you gave Apple that right by choosing PayPal as your method of payment, PayPal are in the middle and can issue charges at Apple's request (assuming that this isn't a PayPal error) but PayPal can issue refunds as and when they choose because they are not covered by the Fair Credit Act.

I would still call the source of the money, (not you but the bank account or credit card that is attached to PayPal) and try to get them involved.

Good luck.

Instead of complaining here to other users, you should be seeking help from the place making the mistake: Paypal. We are all users here, so we can't help you with charges to any account. I would also shut down the account immediately (at least temporarily) until things are sorted out. And I would contact the parties involved in writing - to have proof - and inform them that I will not be responsible for bogus charges. It is obviously some sort of server/accounting glitch - Apple is not stealing from you - they don't need your $30, really.

As for Paypal, I totally agree with Csound - I only use my own credit card with them. I would not be silly enough to actually give them my checking account number because they take out money immediately and then it takes weeks to get things sorted out that way. Whenever I've had a problem, at least I know I can contact my credit card company - they are far more responsive than Paypal and have taken on Paypal a couple of times for me. While they were dragging their feet, I got a refund and the credit card co. simply did a charge-back to Paypal.

Hi,

So obviously your payment agreement is still active? I'd suggest canceling all payment agreements for the time being. Do not set up another one of any type.

Make sure you're communicating with an App Store agent, not iTunes Store agent or Apple Care or Corporate Headquarters.

App Store department is aware of/working on the problem. They can only fix their system. They don't have control over your PayPal account or your bank account. They only have one valid order to work with in their system. Yes, the glitch is their responsibility, but they aren't gaining the money being charged so they can't return it to you. They can only verify (via PayPal) that a charge was unauthorized so the PayPal refund process can begin for the charge. Hope this makes sense.

I have tried to change my payment method to my debit card, but it won't let me use it. It says it's an invalid verification code, even though I checked everything very carefully and I am positive I entered my card info correctly. I do not know how to deactivate my account entirely. If I do deactivate my account, do all my purchased items disappear?

I have been dealing via email with an itunes agent and they still aren't aware of the problem. All charges I disputed with Paypal I have "won" and they have issued 10 out of 11 refunds. The 11th being the only true authorized payment. I am still waiting and will wait for those transaction to post to my Paypal linked account. IT will take longer to get a refund than it will taking the money authorized or not. Thats a fact of life and this forum wont change that. Fee's are how banks make their money on the little guy. It stinks.

To all that used Paypal they "found" in my favor within a couple hours on the weekend so I would make sure you use that dispute process to your advantage. As one poster said you entered into an agreement with Apple/Paypal and your bank. Not much you can do from the bank side other than to notify them. Stop payments will cause a charge probably larger than the debit.

@justiniowa I feel your pain it is not a great feeling being overdrawn especially when it is is no fault of your own. If I were you (and I am taking my own medicine) I would disassociate ANY payment with Apple until this problem has been addressed. That only means removing any form of payment from your account and not killing your account completely (saving your downloads). Forgo adding any other payment method until this blows over otherwise the same thing may happen as it has for me and others on this post. More charges. They have some serious code problems on their system they need to fix before I attempt adding more payments.

Just my two cents (which Apple was kind enough to leave me)

Yep yep, I have removed my payment option from iTunes so my account is deactivated for now until this all blows over. They don't accept my debit card as a payment method as the security code is invalid-or so the error says. This is also why I couldn't buy an iPhone 4 for my girlfriend (long story short), they just don't accept my debit card at all. PayPal will have to be my payment method again when this is all over with, but even the guy on the phone with PayPal told me he recommends I don't use them for Apple anymore, and I find that sad. Thanks everyone, it's great to know we aren't alone in this situation, and that we are all generally ****ed for now until all the refunds/holds/overdrafts/whatnot has blown over.

Edit: I will update as soon as I have more information as to what is going on.
