New Mac Mini with LED 24" LED Display

I have exactly the same issue with my Macbook Pro 2011 with Thunderbolt port and Apple 24inch LED display.

There is NOTHING you can do to resolve this on your own. I tried for 2 months. Apple keeps telling me firmware fix is coming but I doubt it after months of waiting.

After much wrangling over the phone and Emails, Apple agreed to replace my 24 inch display with the new 27inch Thunderbolt display but I will have to wait 4-6 weeks due to its lack of availability.

My suggestion to you is to return the Mini if you can, if not, call the customer service. Don't accept their party line of "firmware fix is coming." It's been coming for months. Apple really dropped the ball on this one.

Not to be a 'me too', but I have the same issue with both the the new Mini's I just bought. Thx for confirming the issue I'm seeing.

I sent my 24" Display to service with a detailed problem description. My display still has a couple of months warranty. I had not much hope that it would come back working any better. But I thought they maybe would change it to the 27", as this display apparently dont have the issue. When its much likely a firmware problem. I was right, they had changed the logic board, and they stated "tested ok"! When I hooked it up to the mini, black flickering the first minute...I will contact support monday and demand a new 27" display. If Apple have said a firmware update is coming for months, I dont think it ever would come...

I'm updating to Lion 10.7.1 right now, let's see if there is any difference.

Updated my mid 2011 mini about 1 hour ago, no flickers so far.

Nop, 10.7.1 and still flickering!

Also have a new Mac Mini (only a few weeks old, i5 with 8 GB of RAM) and have been having display flickering as well. Sent one monitor back (getting a replacement) as it was flickering a lot more than the other one I'm using now (both ASUS P246). Downloaded 10.7.1 and haven't seen much change in the frequency for the better. One computer was hooked up HDMI -> HDMI with an Apple Cable and the other is mini display port -> HDMI via Belkin adapter and the actual monitor HDMI cable. Might have to switch both to DVI if this problem isn't fixed in the next two weeks.

Other than that, this Mac Mini runs flawlessly (with one exception that the safari home page preferences never stuck so that the last page(s) I was on came up, even after a restart). Believe that has been fixed in 10.7.1 as my home page opens no matter when I open up Safari.

Do you have issues waking up the computer from sleep ? I've seen this reported by someone else in the forum centered on the MBP. I got a Kanex adapter, works well and has resolved the flicker issue but I was not able to wake up my computer once after prolong sleep. I had to reset the computer by pressing on power for 10 secs.So you trade a problem for another, not the perfect solution.

I have written to apple (a proper letter). A senior advisor is now on my case. My letter got some attention. I am taking data capture log for apple and their engineers. The advisor confirmed that many of us have the issue. So the good news is that they are paying attention.

I'm doing nearly exactly the same thing - I have their attention as well - but there's still some question as to whether my problem is unique (I can't believe that!)

Do you have a case number or anything for your case that I can piggyback on?

I'm on hold with an ultimatum at this point .. either I get a beta firmware, they upgrade me to a thunderbolt display, or this $4400 machine is going right back :/
