What is up with iWork install DVD's?

First one, bad, gave install error at 98%. Drive could not read past that point. Tried twice, failed both times, scanned disk and it failed to even get through the scan. Took it out and noticed deep scratch on outer edge. Exchanged for new iWork, took it home (mistake) and immediately opened and observed two dimples in reflective layer on the outer edge. Tried install same results. See for yourself -

So, am I that unlucky? I've never had trouble with any Apple software. Anyone else finding it hard to get a good disc?

Installed OK on my iMac, and PB G4, both running 10.4.4
I know it doesn't help much, but it eliminates the G4 and 10.4.4 factors.
A few friends of mine have had a couple of problems with discs they've purchased from the Apple store. I've always bought mine online through the Apple Store, and no problems so far (darn, I wish they made part of these computers out of wood...).

FIXED!!!

Ok here's the deal. The disc from Apple is flawed.
New machines should have no problem with
installation. If you do have errors here's the
answer:

Copy the DVD.

Yup, that's it. Make a new DVD and install from
that.

Presto, it works!

As a newbie to Mac how would I copy the DVD on my Powerbook? Is the software there to do it (15" Powerbook Nov 2005) or do I have to get something else?

I used Toast, it's a great app and honestly worth getting either way.

Otherwise:

For Mac OS X 10.3 or later

Insert the DVD-R disc into the SuperDrive.
Open the Disk Utility application. It's in the Utilities folder, which is in your Applications folder (or choose Utilities from the Finder's Go menu).
Select the disc (not just the disc session) you want to copy from the listing.

From the Images menu, choose New and the choose Image from "your disk name". (Mac OS X 10.4 and later: From the File menu, choose New and the choose Image from "your disk name").
Type a file name and choose "DVD/CD Master" from the Image Format pop-up menu.
Click the Create button. After the image has been created you should see it in the disk listing in the Disk Utility window.
Eject the DVD-R video disc.
Select the disk image you created from the listing.
Click the Burn icon in the toolbar.

Later versions of Disk Utility will use the ".cdr" extension instead of ".dmg"

When prompted, insert a blank DVD-R disc.
Click the Burn button.

Same here... 98% and the install stops and throws an error.
Note to others... my install will open and seems to operate fine, but as you open several of the templates in both Pages and Keynote, you get missing font errors. I can only assume these fonts weren't installed because of the install errors.
Also, I did make a copy of my disc.. Interesting enough the install from the original disc worked, but the install from the copy failed.
(I did get read errors when copying the disc using the latest version of Toast.)

Just FYI, I installed it on my G4 from the original disc and had no problems. The DVD drive did quit spinning exactly when it hit 98%, and after a slight pause, then continued to 100% and did not give an install error.
I installed it on my Mini from the copy and got the 98% error.

Basically, the original discs ARE screwed up.
I see the same flaw right at the edge of the disc.
BTW, I did buy my "family pack" directly from Apple.

Apple, it's time to set up a replacement plan on these!
