pinch to zoom not working

I have had this problem for weeks and only over the last couple of days realised it was confined to Firefox.

And, folks, if that's true for you too, help is at hand!

You just need to change a few browser settings in Firefox.

I had the same problem, but it got resolved when I quit and restarted Safari.

my pinch to zoom in safari is not working either.

I'm running 10.8, but I was having this issue as well. I determined that this was just happening in Safari for me, so I disabled the last extension that I installed, which was fairly recent and since this issue started happening fairly recently, I thought there might be a connection between the two. As soon as I uninstalled that extension (RSS Menu), pinch-to-zoom started working again. I didn't even need to restart the browser. Now that isn't to say there is a problem with the Safari extension, RSS Menu, because I reinstalled it and pinch-to-zoom is still working, so try uninstalling some extensions that you've installed lately. If you haven't installed any lately, try turning them off all together, if they're already turned on.

Shutdown - restart worked for me.

I am having the same problem in firefox but i tried safari and it works?

This seems to be commond problem both in lion and mountain lion.
On my 2010 macbook pro the zoom stopped working if I was using the integraded video card, but as soon as I switched to the discrete (my nvidia) I was able to zoom.

The simple procedure worked for me...thank you.

I fixed this issue by resetting my trackpad in System Preferences:

System Preferences/Trackpad/Set Up Bluetooth Trackpad.../(X) to disconnect

And then connecting it back.

I have an external magic tp on an iMac.

Everything went back to normal after that.

I had to delete the preference to get my pinch back up and running.

Hit CMD-SHIFT-G in the Finder.

Type ~/Library/Preferences and hit return. (The Library folder in your home folder is hidden, so you have to use this method to get into it.)

Delete com.apple.AppleMultitouchTrackpad.plist

Yup. Mavericks: pinch to zoom WAS working. Stopped working. Since this is now 6/2015 we can see that "hoping" apple would fix this problem (since 2011) has not manifested results. Apple has no intention of fixing bugs, only making iTunes (and now Apple Music) more complex and less user friendly (but that's off-topic).

Turning off Safari did the trick.

Go to Trackpad's preference, disable pinch zoom and re-enable it. Then the pinch gesture works again.
