usb not working after lion upgrade

Hello all,

I have a MBA: 121.33GB, 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHZ DDR3. I recently upgraded to Lion, and immediatly after the upgrade the USB ports are not working. I have a USB ethernet dongle that I use to connect at work, and have been unable to do so. A couple things that I have tried so far:

-removing/adding the device

-adding a new location

-resetting the PRAM

I have had limited success by running ifconfig en3 down && ifconfig en3 up . After this I can ping out to other machines on the network after this, but cannt bind to AD. Also the GUI still says that I have no ip, though ifconfig says otherwise.

Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem with my Macbook Pro. I upgraded just today morning to Lion, attached my camera to download pics and my Macbook Pro does not recognize my Camera. I tried connecting Flashcard adapters via USB to download pics and it still does not recognize. Hmmmm...not good ! Apple please do something soon for this issue - I am stuck with my work !

The USB Dongle that comes with Vectorworks 2011 works perfectly with Lion, but the Apple USB Modem that I bought to use with FAXstf Pro (I know it is old style but some people still uses it) does not work anymore, unfortunately. Actually, when Lion was installed, the first window message alert that appeared was saying that USB modem does not work with Lion.

Is this a permanent notification? or can be fixed ahead?

I experienced same problem with MacBook Pro. I tried 4 different flash drives - Sony, Kingston, Trnascend and Hama and all the time receive Note: <The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off.> The USB drive connects and disconnects all the time. If the USB drive is formatted on another machine as Mac OS Extended then there is no problem. Problems appear when the USB has been used in Windows OS. There are no problems with connecting the iPhone.

Is this some Lion issue? I tried many suggestions but still not working correct.

After discussing with very helpful tech at Apple, and process of elimination, it turns out to be a faulty USB dongle; an older 2008 dongle worked fine as did another 2010 dongle.

It's a suspicious coincidence that the dongle would fail after installing Lion though. After dismantling the bad dongle we discovered more electronic complexity than expected (including surface mounted IC chips), so maybe static zapped it.

I find this to be immensely frustrating. I'm having the same problem. My wireless mouse AND camera now cannot be recognized by my computer. However, when I plug the camera to the USB port on my MacBook Pro, my camera immediately recognizes it is attached to a computer, and attempts to connect itself. The computer is not recognizing ANYTHING is plugged into the USB, and both of these devices worked 2 weeks ago on this computer, and continue to work on my boyfriend's MacBook Pro. He, however, did NOT upgrade his OS to Lion.

Dear Mac,

Any suggestions. This has been terribly inconvenient.

Thanks,

Unhappy new Mac owner.
