BCD for Windows 7 and Lion

There seems to be an issue with Liion now with Windows 7 and its standard System Recovery partition (100MB), and Lion with its Recovery partitiion (which is actually optional, you can have Lion on an external drive with Recovery partition there).

GPT specification calls for other partitions.

UEFI requires GPT and has its own EFI.

So looks like a conflict going on here?

That, and Lion's Boot Camp 4.0 not working (doesn't understand or tested with Windows Recovery along with its own?)

I have never used BCD but someone said after using it they were able to at least boot Windows 7 again.

Then it did not clean up the extensions and extensions cache, which also need to be dealt with.

Also, you will need to use BCD edit which means booting your Windows DVD.

1. Put the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start your computer.

2. Hold down Option key till all available disks are displayed and select DVD.

- Press a key when you are prompted.

3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then

4. click Next.

5. Click Repair your computer.

6. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

7.In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.

Type (these commands are safe)

Code: Bootrec.exe /FixMbr

Code: Bootrec.exe /FixBoot

Code: Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

Press ENTER after each command.

Restart your computer.

Thanks.

I got burned by this when I did my upgrade to Lion.... sigh... I just thought Apple stuff worked?!

At any rate, is it possible to just go back to a previous time drive image of Snow Leopard and everything will work or did Lion really trample on the 100mb Windows Partition?

If I do the steps above, will I still be able to dual boot between Lion and W7?

What do I need to do to disable the Lion recovery partition so I don't keep trampling on myself?

Sorry for digging this old thread, but I have to write this for all of them who make the same things as me:

I killed also the EFI/BCD, so I only could boot MAC. Now i found a tool which works in the EFI and let me boot the Windows partition:

http://refit.sourceforge.net/

After installing i can choose between Win and MAC in the EFI, also it repairs tht MBR if necessary.

Only writing if there are other DAU like me^^
