Lion and Keynote Problems

I live in iWorks and have a VERY large Keynote presentation with lots of movies (1.1Gb) that I work off of. It worked great in SL, but after upgrading to Lion, I continually get the rotating ball of death loading Keynote, random times working in Keynote, and saving the presentation. It will eventually, after minutes, clear the ball but this is ridiculous. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, in my Mac downgrading did not solve the problem. The ball stays steady for long time as before.

I have to reverse the computer back to the previous condition to the lion upgrade, that means waisted precious time, lost data, emails etc.

My presentations are heavy (also 1G) for medical pics and movies.

I am furious about this like many other colleagues in the University that bought Macs...). If something goes wrong in my next lectures, it would be a serious professional image damage.

What is more and more irritating is that I sent a communication to Apple support without any reply.

I found Joel's advice helpful in stopping some of my own spinning wheel issues from switching between apps and being in presentation mode. I'll reiterate what he advised:

1) Uncheck "Backup previous version" in Keynote's Preferences.

2) Make a duplicate copy of your file that has issues and save it.

3) If you still get spinning wheels from switching between apps after editing or 10 seconds of inactivity, manually save with command+s. It may beach ball here but be patient and wait for it to finish! Try editing and resume doing work now.

Command+s may be a bit slow but I think that might be normal since the files are so big.

Hope this helps! Let me know if it works for you guys.

Fuzzydog, I do have to thank you so much. I tried to use the indicated uninstaller, but some related files still remained in the system, perhaps for a different synthaxis between the directory names in the italian version of OS. So, I removed ALL I say ALL of the iWork-related files, reinstalled the iWork '09, then immediately the 5.05 upgrade and everything now is fluent like before, without reinstalling the old OS.

To the other unfortunate friends I say: go with confidence, this is the way. I'll be using the (old) Keynote hard in the next days, in case of problems I'll let you know, but up to now i have edited, saved, renamed files as before upgrading... ehm ... the OS.

Waiting for an... iWork...ing new release

THANKS from the bottom of my heart

I've used Lion on a projector with Keynote. I had no problems with it at all. I was running it on a Macbook Pro 2.5GHz i5 with 4 GB of RAM. It was a multimedia presentation with embedded video and sound in addition to graphics. A second presenter used Lion with Staroffice, also with good results, and he was using an older 15" macbook pro.
