Lion and Keynote Problems

I live in iWorks and have a VERY large Keynote presentation with lots of movies (1.1Gb) that I work off of. It worked great in SL, but after upgrading to Lion, I continually get the rotating ball of death loading Keynote, random times working in Keynote, and saving the presentation. It will eventually, after minutes, clear the ball but this is ridiculous. Any ideas?

I'm baffled as to why the upgrade to Keynote 5.1 would work for some and not others.

It is not working for me and several of my colleagues and it might be that it's an issue of file size.

My Keynote files run in the 4 to 6GB size.

The problem lies with autosave & versions as noted in this thread. Version 5.1 does not circumvent these built-in features. The solution would be for Apple to allow users to disable them, something which they are unlikely to do.

I have updated to mountain Lion. Keynote works fine as long as you don't have large files over a gig. If you deal with large files it will take you 10 seconds or more to save the file after each change. As one who teaches using keynote, I have learned to break up or split my large files into two or three sections. Using large presentations with a lot of videos just makes you frustrated every time you save the file. Simplify your life by breaking your large files up.

The newer versions of Keynote solve many of the spinning basketball saving problems of the past. However, it will never be like the software was like in earlier versions--very quick saves. Learn to break up your huge files Into more manageable files and life will be better. If you keep using your the big files then you will hate using keynote.

I have found that it works better if you do not embed the videos - uncheck add video in 'advanced' saving settings. Have real problems with files around 9gb when videos are embedded.

Found out with mountain lion that pressing option key when going to file menu allows good old 'save as' command instead of duplicate! That definitely helps too...

Come on APple you can do better than this. Can you add full functionality to IPad version of Keynote while you are on? Video management especially!

Does anyone have the definitive cure for the Keynote '09 on Lion issues?

I have lost so many hours re-stitching together a presentation, with stills and video, that I resorted to uninstalling with Yvan's script, re-installing from disk and updating to 5.04, as recommended in much earlier posts. I can't find the iWork update 9.0.5 anywhere (recommended) ... does anybody have any ideas as to where it is or why it has disappeared?

Or, should I just 'bite the bullet' and update to Mountain Lion? Thanks.
