Lion and Keynote Problems

Well I'm glad it's working for you. Don't know what the remote thing is all about (that was working fine for me earlier today). The presentations aren't unusable, but editing them is a nightmare. Every couple of changes it hangs (complete with spinny color wheel) anywhere from 10-60 sec. Very annoying X(

Alright i mean the keynote remote app from apple for control a presentation from a iphone.

Funny! I am not either, but been here for over a decade. On the Remote app for the iPhone, that's a non-starter. Wait until you are in the middle of the presentation and either your bat dies or the wifi is lost. Silly, that thing.

I still believe that the main culprit is the new Autosave feature. I reduced the filesize of my presentations, but there are still about 200MB. It helped but I noticed that even when after I save the file manually, about a second later the beachball keeps spinning for about 2-3 seconds, and even just cutting or pasting an image resuts in 3-4 seconds of beachball spinning (which must be the Autosave kicking in). I do hope Apple will consider making Autosave an optional feature. I would rather continue to save manually every few minutes. Lion has slowed down my productivity substantially, unlike Snow Leopard, which resulted in noticeable speed and thus productivity increases. I would rather loose a few minutes worth of changes to my work than being slowed down by Autosave.

Klaus, what u theorize sounds very plausible. So want to compare autosave settings? I have keynote here working fine, but I do see a beachball every so often. Nothing out of the ordinary over SL, as my presentations are all video + animation heavy.

Are there any settings for autosave? I haven't found any. I just want it turned off!

I have the same problem... My Keynote files are heavy (always more than 1.5 GB) and after I've installed Lion there are 2 Huge problems:

1) The App. is VERYYYYYY SLOW

2) In my customized slides (3200X1070) I've a white line on top of my slides when I play the slideshow presentation....

I don't Know What I have to do.... I'm waiting an APPLE pronunciation about that...

Keynote now gives the spinning ball with any changes to previous presentations, back to Snow Leopard for me.

I think I will go back to SL as well. I cannot afford to spend so much time waiting for Keynote. My business relies on it.

My Keynote files were all over 1gig and simply don't work, lost a day reformating and going back to SL, Lion is rubbish.

I also have those problems with large AND small keynote files, but especially with the large ones. And the keyboard shortcuts just wont work from time to time its annoying and disturbs your workflow, hope they'll bring an update soon.

I am having the same problems with Keynote locking up, even on small files. I have lost hours of time trying to get it to work. Since upgrading to Lion, I've also noticed that my computer is generally much slower across the board. Lion is like anti-productivity software! I am headed back to SL. Lion just isn't ready yet.

I have a new issue in keynote since upgrading to Lion. In my presentations all my quicktime movies are blank and do not play. The interesting thing is that when I use an external monitor (cheap, lo-rez) they are visible and playable; so it is only on my new macbook air (thunderbolt) display that I have the problem. Anyone? Ideas?
