Lion and Keynote Problems

I live in iWorks and have a VERY large Keynote presentation with lots of movies (1.1Gb) that I work off of. It worked great in SL, but after upgrading to Lion, I continually get the rotating ball of death loading Keynote, random times working in Keynote, and saving the presentation. It will eventually, after minutes, clear the ball but this is ridiculous. Any ideas?

Hi

I posted earlier to this thread regarding the problems I have been experiencing with Keynote since installing Lion.

Like others here I have also been contacted by Apple to provide more information on the problem.

This evening I was contacted by a member of the Apple team asked to look into this. He was extremely courteous and helpful and I hope the information I was able to provide will help towards solving the problems we are all experiencing here.

What I would like to stress here is this;

1) Apple are obviously keen to find out what is causing these issues,

2) they are monitoring this thread

3) if they contact you for further data, please assist them, afterall we all want this problem fixed, agreed?

One final thing...I'm in the UK and the guy who rang me was in California, like Coocooforcocoapuffs says, it is showing a level of care you'd be hard pressed to find with a lot of companies these days.

This was the last email sent by IWork to me.

Dr. Carvalho,

Thanks for the reply. Can you provide a little more information about the document(s) you are seeing this with? Such as:

- How many slides are in the document?

- What kinds of content do you have in the document - images, movies, etc.?

- If there are images and/or movies, what is the size of those items?

- Also, a few things to try:

- What happens if you restart the machine?

- What happens if you start up in Safe Mode (restart the machine, and press and hold the Shift key while the it boots up)?

Thanks,

The iWork Team

Presentations in keynote are foundational to my work, I went back to SL as quick as possible and I am still earning an income, if I was on Lion I would be broke, took a day to get everything back to SL and the systems structure of Lion is different so getting mail etc together is painful, but great to be productive again. It's pretty simple, "Don't use Lion with Keynote".

Spent another hour with Apple today running diagnostics while Keynote hung on my iMac. I have moved back to SL on my Macbook Pro for work. The Apple guy has already done the same with "other clients like myself" and hopefully will have a solution soon. BTW, I am running iWork version 5.05. Is anyone having the same issue in SL with 5.1? Which version works best maybe helpful for anyone going back to SL.

The hunging issue does not seem to be attributed to the size of presentation file. My file is only 63 Mb and it hungs both on 2010 MacBookPro Corei7/512Mb SSD and 2010 MBA Core2Duo/256Mb. I tried to export teh presentation file from Keynote to PowerPoint to work around, but exported file from Keynote is a crap! I have a presentation at international meeting soon, and I do not know what to do as presentation also hungs....
