Hello to everybody ,

Runing with MBP 13" early 2011 . From Spain my experience upgrading to Lion . As most of you , after upgrading , the computer was slow and unstable , so I decided to make a clean instal thru recovery option ( after saving to time machine) then update the OS , re install ilife, update and back to recovery option , disc utility , repair disc , repair permisions . Then recover all my data from time machine ( one by one ) . After all this , reset SMC and PRAM. Now is fast ( faster then SL) and stable till today . Only isue remaining is that color sync utility seems to be wrong. Verifying color profiles gives back message that lcd profile is wrong and can not repair . I went to the apple store and checked this issue with diferent brand new macs with factory Lion instaled , opening color sync utility and verifying color profiles , all gave the same issue . Talked with the genius guys and told them that they where selling brand new macs with this failure . They had no idea . I've already sent a feed back to Apple about this . Any body knows whats wrong with color sync utility under Lion ? I sugest everybody to open color sync utility and veryfy color profiles and you will see what I mean. Thanks to everybody in this forum for all your help.

Jose.

Alright, I did EVERYTHING people suggested here. Re-installed Lion, cleaned the PRAM, caches, deleted Mail accounts, re-installed safari, etc. etc. etc...

Lion gets betters at first, but then it slows down again and it is impossible to work.

I have a MP pro, 4MB ram, and am a regular user of Office, internet, photoshop (rarely).

I need an advice on how to safely downgrade to SL. I only have a Lion Time Machine backup. Is it possible?

Just an update to the above. I installed 8 gigs of ram in my MBP today, and lion has been running blazing fast since. Time to complete shut down with 7 spaces open running 9 programs, 30 seconds. Boot up, 2 minutes to log in, then 1 minute to everything up and running. Except mail. Took another 30 seconds to be fully responsive. Not sure what is going on there. However, everything else operating silky smooth at one minute from log in. Not sure it this will help your situation, but doubling memory certainly helped mine.

Looking at activity monitor, my typical software deployment is using 4.5 to 6.5 gigs of ram. It is obviously that Lion is a memory hog, and is much happier with double the RAM memory of a stock MBP.

Ok people, I figured out what my problem is. I was comparing my macbook pro i5 to other friends macs. It turns out that MACKEEPER was the culprid. I know lots of you use it without properly uninstalling and reinstalling the lion version. If you have MacKeeper installed on your system, this could be your solution. Here's the instructions I got from mackeeper chat support:

Step One:

Drag MacKeeper from your applications folder to trash, but DO NOT EMPTY IT YET!

Step Two:

Restart your computer

Step Three:

Empty the trash

Step Four:

Download and install the new MacKeeper from http://mackeeper.zeobit.com/download

I hope this helps someone out there as it worked miracles for me. Go on, spread the word if it works for you too... 🙂

If you have installed Lion over Leopard, the best thing to do is call applecare and take their complimentary support. They support Lion installs for 90 days.

After repairing disk permissions in disk utlity, clearing the caches and restarting, there are still more things the support team can do with you to get rid of the old Leopard code which is conflicting with the new Lion code. You do NOT need more than 2 GB of memory for Lion. To be on the safe side, I don't want to give the instructions here - call support.

About calling apple support I called them and also visited genius bar. After all, I had to clean my hard drive and do a clean install of lion.

Ok, now I feel bad that I even reinstalled the freakin' thing. It worked ok for a while and then BAM, back to snail spead with rainbox wheels, oh MY! uninstalled MacKeeper, and Lion is flying now. Live, pay, and learn I guess! My friend had the same problem, and advised him to do the same, and he is very happy now with Lion...

I think I just liked the robot logo they have, like a moth to a flame I tell ya!

🙂
