Customizing the Finder sidebar in Lion?

Lion's Finder sidebar categories are now inverted? I'm accustomed to having the DEVICES category at the top of the list, then SHARED, then FAVORITES. I can't find a way to reorganize these categories. Am I missing something?

You're not missing anything, that's the way it is now. No way to reorganize that I'm aware of.

I coluld not wait to upgrade and I must say as I use my computer 99% for work. This was the HUGEST disappointment yet. Now I have to read down a long list of fave's I created to speed up my workflow. Whose bright idea was it to make all labels an even grey... am for sure hoping for an immediate update!!!!! Apple please give us back color coded icons.

Apple wants us to forget the file system. Thats why the Favorites are on top. I hate it too. I have a bunch of safed searches in there. Now they are bundeled with all the other stuff. Practically invisible now with all the grey icons. I want to separate the list with the safed searches from the rest. Are there any work arounds for this?

You can drag your external drives onto the top of your side bar directly from the desktop. You can then unmount then mount again and your external drive will show up at the top again. Just tried it and it works. I ws also able to drag my devices straight from side bar to the top of my favorites.

hope that works out.

Just want to add myself to the list of customer's disappointed about the sidebar changes. The icons should definitely be in color and devices at the top... Now when I need to eject something I have to go searching at the bottom for it grr.

I'm sending Apple feedback about this. Everyone should do that and hopefully they'll make a change

Agree with noted aggravations about the finder sidebar. I can image there will be a LOT of 10.7 updates to fix it all up. I have created another problem here that I can't seem to fix and I hope someone will have an answer.

I inadvertantly dragged a file onto the finder favorites sidebar window space and now I cannot get rid of the name of that file in the sidebar. The file is not listed in the finder sidebar preferences checkboxes and it cannot be dragged out of the list. Any suggestions?
