iMac with Lion not waking after overnight sleep

Since upgrading to Lion a few days ago, my iMac (2010) won't wake up with magic keypad swipe, button press, spacebar or any other key. Works fine and wakes fine when used periodically during the day, but is locked tight upon first use in the AM. The only thing that works is a hard power off and reboot. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Yes, YoRafael, you're correct. The Trackpad ismost certainly a Bluetooth device.

My point was that the issue is not related to the devices (Trackpad, Keyboard, Mouse, etc.), but rather the Bluetooth process itself. This issue is affecting users without Trackpads (such as myself on two machines), so removing or disabling the Trackpad as you suggested will not resolve the issue for everyone.

Waiting for Apple to recognize the issue and resolve it is really all we can do collectively.

I have posted about this a couple of times in this thread. My update>>>>>>

After all the wake up problems, I tried one of the earleir suggestions, this was something to do with repair permissions (see above somewhere). This actually worked for me for the next 2 weeks, then all of a sudden, whilst using Mail, my power to the Imac went off!! i tried to power back on to no avail. i fgured the power supply was shot (my I mac is 5 months old). called support and they told me to take it to Mac Outpose here in London, Ontario. 8 days later, i got my Imac back and it is still waking from sleep perfectly, everytime!!

Having my power supply burn out like that didn't inspire me at all, I then purchased the extended warranty for a small fortune!!

I realise I am not supplying answers but i did wander if all that powering on/off did my power supply in!!

beware!!!!!!!!!

I have all but given up on this issue now - my Mac has went from a totaly reialbe computer since the day I bought it to a unreliable machine that I cannot leave in sleep mode anymore...

All that brought this on for me was the update to LION.

I have tried every suggestion in this forum and provided many technical dumps to apples technicians.

I am still awaiting a fix.

It is not any one device - the whole BT stack disapears and if you try and re-enable it - the iMac just crashes.

Pluggin in a USB mouse lets you move the cursor again and select shut down but even then it still hangs at the grey screen with an enless mini spinning wheel - so I still have to pull the plug..

This issue needs fixing ASAP as it is doing my disk no amount of damage to keep hard pulling the power all the time...

I will try this - just because I havent tried it before.

I have plugged in a USB mouse and will now delete and repair all my BT devices - mouse trackpad and keyboard.

I don't really expect it will work as the whole BT stack itself seems to disapear but I am going to try it anyway..

I have ran disk repair more times in the past few weeks than I ever want to again - and no - it has made no difference whatsoever to this problem. - for me anyway.

I DID NOT THINK I WOULD BE POSTING THIS AFTER ALL THIS TIME but you know what...

THANK YOU JOBSTER!!

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!

All I can say is re-iterate what I said earlier, I have had this issue for weeks now and tried everything on this forum thread..

Jobster's cure WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK it's early days yet but so far I have managed to wake my iMAC up three times - both from very long sleep periods and so far it is working!!!!

I have not been able to do that for a long time now..

I hope Apple Tech Support is monitoring this thread as these are exciting times here...

Thanks again Jobster!

A happy mac Lion user!

Darn it!!!

I hate having to report this but guess what...

Yep you guessed it.. I tried to wake up the iMac this morning and it didnt wake up until I tapped the power button.

The mouse, keyboard and trackpad were all dead..

I plugged in my USB mouse and got control back - I tried to go on the internet in this mode but interestingly it said no connection (I use a wired Ethernet lead here).

Anwyay - same old - I went over to Bluetooth menu and turned bluetooth off but it wouldnt turn on again.

Shutting down the computer again, hung at the grey screen and white rotating circle stage...

So close Jobster!! so close!!! (for me anyway)....

The only other two programs on my iMac I am having problems with are Parallels 6 which sometimes freezes the whole machine and Photoshop CS5 which sometimes crashes - I dont recall any of these problmes on Snow Leopard..

Ahh well... back to turning off my ma the long way again...
