iMac with Lion not waking after overnight sleep

Since upgrading to Lion a few days ago, my iMac (2010) won't wake up with magic keypad swipe, button press, spacebar or any other key. Works fine and wakes fine when used periodically during the day, but is locked tight upon first use in the AM. The only thing that works is a hard power off and reboot. Any thoughts? Thanks!

HI all.

Ok time to report back after more testing.

To recap I tried Jobsters solution but after a day or so the usual happened.

Anyway - as an experiment I diconnected by trackpad and ever since then (3 days of sleep now), it has been fine.

I would therefore say that it appears to be a trackpad issue in LION as a few people above me say.

Again, why isn't Applel looking into fixing this issue properly?

I'm sorry - that was a silly sweeping statement for me to make.. My excuse was it was very late and I was tired.

All I can report is its the next day now and again my iMac woke up again...

I was wondering if anyone here has tried the developer beta of Lion 10.7.2 and who maybe had this issue as well - what I am really asking is - does it appear to be fixed in 10.7.2 anyone know?
