Send from default account in Lion?

It used to be that you could designate one account to respond to all incoming email in Mail, but that seems to have changed in Lion. Now when I respond to an email it will respond from which ever account that I received the email from. I do some advnaced redirecting in my various email accounts because of low space limits on my universities server. So when I get an email to my .edu account it get immediately redirected to my mobileme account. I have both my .edu and .me account in the Mail app, but use the .edu account to send email and the .me account to receive it. Is there a way to make Mail behave as it used to in Snow Leopard?

Yes i think is a way to rebuild it but really i don't know it but shall be easy to find i go check a bit..

Also maybe singning out and log in again helps but no really sure ..

You can rebuil mailboxes in mailbox rebuild may it helps.

I tried rebuilding the mailbox, but that didn't help.

So a little back info, as well as sending my .edu mail to @me I also created, long ago, a @gmail account that the mail gets sent to; I'm making as much use of cloud email as possible. So all of the email for at least the past year that I've been receiving has been going to my @me and my @gmail account as well as being downloaded locally on my home computer, but that is besides the point.

Out of curiousity I went into the Sys. Pref. and removed my @me account and added in the @gmail account associated with my .edu email address. This in turn updates my Mail.app accounts, sort of, it turns out that it added the gmail account fine, but didn't remove the @me account. I manually removed it from my Mail.app; so I was left with @gmail and . edu as the only two accounts in Mail.app. Now when I attempt to reply to an email that was fowarded from .edu to @gmail it sets the "From" field as .edu. It appears that @me is hijacking all replies as being from @me. I've tried various incarnations of accounts and any time that @me is in the list of accounts the reply with always be from @me. If I remove @me from my accounts then the replies are "from" @gmail. I guess I fixed my problem, but I still don't know why it is behaving that way with @me.
