iTunes Update Error 7 - Problem with SQLite3.dll

I updated iTunes last night through the regular Apple Software Update and it appeared to update iTunes, Quicktime and Safari normally. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium - 32 bit. After the update it said I needed to restart Windows, so I did. Since then I get the following errors:

As Windows is booting up, the following errors appear:

AppleSyncNotifier.exe Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SCLite3.dll

iTunesHelper.exe Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SCLite3.dll

If I try to start iTunes, I get the same error followed by:

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes

Error 7 (Windows error 127)

I have reinstalled iTunes but the errors continue. I tried replacing sqlite3.dll but that did not help.

Any help or suggestions? I'm pretty tech savy but I'm at a loss.

I have had the same symptoms at least three times with various itunes/qt upgrades, and each time I have fixed the problem using the solution as described by abbasfromdubai. Copy the sqllite3.dll to the correct location. It always works for me (and for many others) so I guess his solution has some value. Why is the apple installer so badly broken that they require a complete uninstall and reinstall fo the software to 'fix' such a simple problem? It ' makes me wonder (again) if Apple doesn't provide substandard software for Windows on purpose...or are they really that incompetent?

Having spent many hours (following this, and other threads on the web) trying to resolve issues with iTunes not recognising an iPod on my son’s laptop I found that his anti-virus (AVG free) and firewall (Comodo) software were both preventing iTunes from working properly (moving the SQLlite3 file made no difference in my case; once running, iTunes seems happy for it to be in the “wrong” folder).

I swapped to Widow Security Essentials and changed Comodo’s settings to make the iPod service a trusted application and everything is now working correctly (note that all AV software will show up running apps/services in their own strange ways!).

It may be worth anyone having any trouble with iTunes to temporarily disable their AV and firewall software and see if the problems go away, and if they do, then work out how to tweak the particular AV software to allow iTunes to run.

Obviously take care about using your computer without any security software running.

I hope this helps someone.
