Has anyone tried this? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6672
This worked. Or rather, the next time I started my iMac, this patch was installed. It seems like it was pushed from Apple. Hooray.
This was an immediate fix. Thanks holmsley
I have version 3.28.2 installed, but still no ethernet connectivity. I connected via a Windows laptop to my cable modem so I know the modem is working. Could it be that I have earlier versions, e.g. 3.28.1 on my system? Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. I have a service call booked to replace the wifi modem and it looks like it won't be necessary. Thanks in advance.
Just tried this - April of 2016. It works perfectly, although the screens were slightly different but was easy to adapt. Apple Tech Support was unable to provide this service. so I highly recommend trying it.
Recently lost the use of ethernet port as well on 10.11.6 on late 2015 21.5 iMac.
Wifi works.
Incompatible Kernel Extension Configuration has already been updated to 3.30.1 and still no ethernet. Port status alternates between Not Connected (cable connected but not able to get an IP address) and Cable Unplugged (no connectivity at all).
I have swapped cat5 cables with no better results.
