Restore bounce to Mail in Lion

I love the bounce button. If someone sends me chain mail, I bounce it back. I used to get soooo much, now people think my host automatically refuses chain mail.

And it's also great for bouncing all of my stuff in my spam folder back 😀

Feels good, does nothing. There is a hack around to reinstall it in Lion if it makes you so excited, but as an OSX feature, it has been dropped due to it's uselessness as a productive feature.

But Good Luck and don't get too excited if you install the hack. (you'll have to search for it, I am too excited not having it, lol)

You guys are wrong. I bounce all my spam and over half of it stops coming back. Especially vi agra and the kind you can't opt out of.

Despite what people say, bouncing spam DOES work experimentally. In theory, it shouldn't, but ever since I started bouncing it, I got much, much less spam. Not just that, but it works on real people you know or don't know who send you chain mail. They assume after 2 bounces that your mail host rejects chain mail somehow. It has worked very well for me.

Now the only spam I get is from Nickelodeon and Facebook (my fake account). Since all of my spam is from just 2 senders, I have it automatically filtered out with a rule and redirected into a junk AOL account I have set up then marked as "read".

True, but if bouncing has made me believe that I am getting less spam even when I compare the numbers before and after, I must be fooling myself so much that for my purposes, I AM getting less spam. 😁

Well, I've never used bounce but I still have it in SL. I also get a moderate amount of spam, so I think I'll run a little experiment over the next few weeks and see if bouncing all my spam reduces the weekly rate.

Unlike the incredulous belief in fairys, men-with-beards-in-the-sky, ghosts and supernatural magic, when it comes to computer and computer networks I'm instincitvely on the side of those that say it works in practice.

I've never trusted those that argue purely from theory when it comes to what computers should or should not do. There are too many variables out in the wild for such comfortable simplicities, as anyone who's ever done any coding and used a debugger will tell you.

But let's see. 🙂

Bounce installer is at the bottom of the page. Might want to read the instructions first. After installing, the Mail programm has a button in top with a blue "broken" arrow. Select the mail you want to bounce and hit the button!

Thanks. What I didn't know was that on mail, you had to go to mail in the left hand corner, then services, and then bounce it.
