Restore bounce to Mail in Lion

Hi,

Does anyone know of a tweak or 3rd party program / patch to restore the bounce button capability?

It seems like I found a possible work around this morning that added the bounce function back via a tweak of the Mark Message as Junk button, but my first attempt at implementing it did not work and I can't find that thread again.

Thanks much!

Stefan and coMet both, thanks a million for this. Reading all through this thread, I started with the "service", added the "remove message" and ended with the Installer which created the button. In the meantime I also notified Apple to bring back the feature.

And for all those that opposed/disliked/commented etc.: try to see the glass half full instead of half empty.......

Sorry Pete, I know it is a long thread but you should read the previous ones before commenting..... Bounce is not used for spam!

I only use it to discretely eliminate "known" senders of "private" spam, like those "if you send this to 5 others...." etc. And for that it was working very good and was easy to operate.

I must admit that the button even improves the easyness of use! That is the good thing coming out of this, thanks to the elimination if the menu option by Apple.

So to all that made this possible: 😍

No, people have been using it for any unwanted emails if you read through all the threads here on the subject, and you say it's not used for spam yet you follow up by saying you use it for private spam. It was useless, thus the dropping of it in Lion and most likely in all future OSXs.

Pete

Again. Sorry Pete.

READ my message. Do not take it out of its context! I specifically say "private spam of known senders" and even add an example. My email address is out there with many persons. Some of them "batch" addresses so my email winds up with people that also send on message after message only because the message has to be sent 5, 10, 20 times. And I get sh*t-mail from some of them. Easiest and fastest way of telling no is: bounce!

So to clarify: I have the spam-filter blocking the "unknown" or the "no reply" senders. Blocking "webmaster" or "postmaster" because if they know me, they'll use my name. And many more rules to keep my InBox as clean as possible. The messages are gone before you see them.

And for those that obtain my email address, and put in their own REAL address, but use it for stuff I do not want, I use BOUNCE.

On a final note: I have read over and over again that people use it for spam. When using bounce a text-box shows and says: "If the return address of the sender is right........" 99% of real spam has no "real" sender…..So in that case it has no use.

MY conclusion is: because people did not use it the way it was supposed to, Apple removed bounce. But for those that used it right, Apple should have kept in this feature.
