Restore bounce to Mail in Lion

Hi,

Does anyone know of a tweak or 3rd party program / patch to restore the bounce button capability?

It seems like I found a possible work around this morning that added the bounce function back via a tweak of the Mark Message as Junk button, but my first attempt at implementing it did not work and I can't find that thread again.

Thanks much!

!!!911!!! Is it at all possible for the service to apply itself to messages that were not specifically selected? Or to "all messages" from a single email address?

I have recieved a message from a hostile client who got "a very large number of bounce messages" in her inbox. I don't think I bounce any of her emails. 😕 Thanks!

Is it feasible that anyone else could have?

HI CSound...

No, they are from me -- she forwarded the bounce message. I've double checked the script and am going to check it again -- I've been reading the entire thread to see if I messed up anywhere. I may end up scraping the service if I can't figure it out. I added the script to deal with "hostile" but if the service is going to create hostile clients then I just won't use it. Might be trying to use something that isn't the best solution. Thanks for the reply.

Thank you Csound for being so willing to support me as I take a step toward your camp...

Having read this discussion for as long as I could tolerate it, you'd think we were talking about guns not a "bounce message" function. Yes, the bounce feature can be abused and Yes, the bounce feature can be useful. I can't believe how acrymonious the tone of this discussion became.

We're all adults here, are we not? If someone wants to bounce a message back to sender who has been excessive, indiscriminate, abusive or inappropriate, then I think most adults can judge whether or not it's warranted. Discretion, when applied, should protect against "bounced messages" contributing to some larger issue of unregulated SPAM.

Similarly -- bouncing is NOT a cloak of invisibility and won't safeguard against ALL spam or unwanted emails. Again, education, understanding and discretion will go a long way when trying to address the ever-escalating rate of techno-harassment.

I would certainly like to thank those posters who have maintained some decorum and have filtered their own personal views in the interest of informing those of us who were not as aware of the tensions associated with that void where the "bounce" icon once resided. I appreciate having the know-how to bounce and the caution against its use. From here, I will make my own educated choice about that void in my toolbar.

If used as you describe I could hardly object to it, however as we both know it is often used indiscriminately, and it's a bit of a blunt instrument for that.

Bounce worked for me because I receive emails from friends to an address that I've asked them not to use.

So when they would send me an email to that address, I would bounce them and they'd get the message.

Apple, please get rid of some of the know-it-alls here whose purpose seems to be about amusing themselves rather than contributing to the discussion.

Thx.
