Restore bounce to Mail in Lion

Hi,

Does anyone know of a tweak or 3rd party program / patch to restore the bounce button capability?

It seems like I found a possible work around this morning that added the bounce function back via a tweak of the Mark Message as Junk button, but my first attempt at implementing it did not work and I can't find that thread again.

Thanks much!

I can't get the bouncd Applescript to work at all in Mail 5.1. I added the line

reply eachMessage with opening window

following the line

bounce eachMessage

to make sure that the script was running. When I run the service saved by Automator, it opens up a reply window to reply to the selected message. If I reply to the selected message (from myself) I get the reply. But I never get the bounce message. Bounce does not show up in the Applescript dictionary for Mail.

Under Message in the Mail Applescript dictionary it says:

responds to

open, bounce, forward, redirect, reply.

If I click on "open" it takes me to the description for open. But if I click on "bounce" nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

i want to bounce mail to open mail address.

some companies are sending spam mails from fake mail addresses.

is AppleScript can do Bounce To : .... i will write in the box company's original mail that i will grab it from its web site.

But by the time the spam emails are sent, the mail accounts are long closed down. I don't see how Bounce can possibly work. Can someone explain to me how Bouncing Mail will reduce spam emails?

Thank You in Advance

If you're talking about actual spam, and not messages from real people or companies, then bouncing won't reduce it. It will just contribute more to the problem by sending to an inappropriate address, or if it reaches the spammer may actually make you a bigger target. But nobody on this thread seems to care about that, they believe that it reduces spam and aren't interested in the reasons why it won't.

Thanks Thomas, that is what I was always led to believe. That is also why I was checking to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. I hadn't realised the Bounce feature had gone in Mail (and won't).

Thanks again for clearing up what I had been told a fair while back, when Bounce was thrown into the Mail Toolbar.

Happy Computing Thomas A.

For the totally lame, what comes after the "name it, click save, and you are done"?

I open mail, and there is no "bounce" in my messages pull down. I have come to the conclusion that I have

to execute the Automator script at some point in the mail program, when the mail that I have highlighted is the one that I want "bounced". It is not crystal how one does that. Thanks.
