Mac OS X v10.7 Lion always boot into safe boot after upgrade?

I'm having the same exact problem with my iMac as well, and I also have boot camp installed with Windows 7. This issue is frustrating to say the least. I hope we find a solution to this.

Same thing here too. What iMac do you have?

I have a 2010 27" Quad Core i5.

I have the 2011 27" so it is most likely than a software issue. I haven't been able to come up with a solution :-(. I guess we will just have to wait.

I suppose. I just really hope this is taken care of quickly.

same issue here, I have a 21,5" iMac i3 3.06 GHz, RAM 12 Gb.

I also installed a fresh copy of Lion but still have the same problem.

Does unchecking the "restore windows" box before shutting down/restarting help anyone?

I found a way to keep this from happening, although you have to do it every time you start...

When booting, hold down 'option' on your keyboard to bring up the boot selector, and pick your Lion disk from there. It should start normally.

I believe I have found a permanent solution. It worked for me, so try this and let us all know if it works for you.

I reset the PRAM... here's what you need to do:

1. Turn off the Mac.

2. Unplug everything, including the power.

3. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds.

4. Plug only the power back in.

5. Turn on the Mac.

6. Hold down Option+Command+P+R.

7. Keep holding until you hear a second chime. Then let go.

From then on, it should start normally. Hope this works for y'all.

it doesn't work for me, I did it many many times but nothing happened.

I'm going to re-intall snow leopard until all bugs will be fixed, there are too many thing that don't work, native instruments products for example, and they are very important to me.

Scratch my last reply... after 4 normal startups, it decided to go safe boot again... 😢

Same problem here with my 2011 21" iMac that I purchased in mid July.

I have a wireless keyboard, trackpad and mouse. When I power everything off and turn off the power strip then later turn on the computer it boots into Safe Mode.

Also, the Wi-Fi (formerly Airport) icon in the menubar is just the empty outline and clicking on it gives me the message "Wi-Fi: No hardware installed". Rebooting fixes this.

I spent an hour on the phone with an Applecare manager who had me run Disk Utility repair after booting into the recovery partition. Disk Utility found some disk errors, which I thought was strange for a new computer, and repaired them.

The problem still exists though.

I think i got it :

The progressbar while booting ( booting in safe-mode ) came from the wireless keybord and is reproduceable.

At evening I shut down my iMac an put off my mouse and keyboard. To startup I put on the iMac and immediatly after I switch on keyboard and mouse. In tihs case the keyboards sends some event wich leads to safe-mode.

Know I wait until I switch on the keyboard. In my opinion this is a bug, i can live this way but i hope it will be fixed.

I will know take a look at it while not switching off the keybord, power consumption should be acceptable
