The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later

Issue on both MacBook Pro & Black MacBook after upgrade from 10.6.8

Facetime 1.0.2 was installed on both already, but now after upgrade Facetime 1.1 will not connect :

"The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."

Have tried with 2 different Apple IDs.

Even trying to create a new user account does not work, and generates the same error.

Have posted already in Lion OS X 10.7 discussion boards.

Deleted Facetime 1.1 with Terminal and all relevant preference files, and reinstalled Lion but it has made no difference.

Still getting same error message.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7), 4GB Ram - 500GB WD Scorpio Blue

Dear Tim, all what you said, how my hosts file must be is the same like my hosts file looking. It's 100% the same like you said it must be.

But FaceTime still NOT WORKING!

Also, I tried check what you said with Terminal more /etc/hosts

and there is all the same like you said it need to be.

Facetime not working! Cannot log in with my Apple ID !

If you have, and you are still having the problem, then the only other steps which I went through on 1 of my Macs was deleting a relevant certificate, but I'm not convinced that had any effect.

However just so you know the certificate in question was:

Apple Applications Integration Certification Authority

Looks like you might need to contact Apple Support direct.

If you're a registered developer you can also file a bug report at

bugreprt.apple.com

The steps I outlined solved the problem on all my 4 Macs, so I'm not sure why it does not work for you.

Hope those of you who are still having problems find a solution soon.

Thank you for all your help.

I'm not developer I'm only user who bought Lion from Apple Store at first place couse of FaceTime, because my Snow Leopard works fine (withouth FaceTime). Now I have problem!

I hate to say it, but I tried all of the possible solutions, and they don't appear to be working. I did a search on the Keychain Access and could find no certificates whatsoever, which is interesting. Also tried emptying the DNS cache and that didn't work. I get a very quick "Verified" at the top of my sign in page (when I enter my user ID and password and click Next twice), but it returns me to the first page with that error message.

I'm wondering if there's a setting I haven't made having to do with Certificates that could be causing the problem.

I am also using a non-Apple firewall...

Just worked for me, many thanks gaialive. The only problem was having to delete the original host file before replacing it - I admit I was a little sweaty-palmed at that point! But it worked a treat.

If you're using a non-Apple Firewall then that could be causing the problem..

You say :

I never got the next button to appear at all whilst the problem persisted. I would just get kicked back to the sign-in each time, so it would seem that your problem occurs after connecting.

Tim,

That is exactly right. I click Next on the second page, I see "verified," there is a brief pause, and then I am returned to the original Facetime screen. I am using Norton Internet Security for the Mac. I will uninstall that to see if the problem disappears.

No luck with uninstalling Norton, unfortunately. I'm sure Apple is working on this and will come up with a fix. It easily could be something I did, also, in Snow Leopard.

Thanks Johnny. I did that and it still hasn't resolve the problem. I'll keep on looking for the answer and post it here if I can figure it out. It's driving me nuts because I have used Facetime to chat with my 16-year-old son.
