Afterupgrading to Mac OS X Lion, hot corners work when I restart my mac but they soon become unresponsive except for one corner, anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Nothing works for me consistently. I mean, logging out or manually resetting the hot corners eventually works, but it always goes back to not working. It's weird because it's only happening on one of my computers, but it's setup almost identical to my other mac which has had no issues. Grr.
Again, works every time : Launch a Terminal, execute the command "killall Dock".
That's all.
I've tried each and every suggestion and nothing works. *Shrug* Will learn to live without it 😐
Same issue here, to temporarly solve the problem I start screen saver than exit it and voilà, hot corners are working again until screen saver triggers the problem again sometime...
@Michaël Betsch, thanks - killall Dock worked for me when hot corners crash everyonce in a while.
This solved my question
aaroncl's approach (killing mdworker) worked for me. Many thanks.
Dunno if this helps you or not, guys, but it helped me: Skitch closed and SBAM! Everything works like a charm 😉
Good answer Michaël Betsch
I made a script for myself that will do killall Dock for me. Feel free to use it:
I still have the same problem with mavericks 🙂 and this time kill all dock is not working to reset 🙂 Something like 2 years, god knows how many updates, 2 major update and still same problem.. Shouldn't be that much hard to fix it 😟
I can't find a solid, dependable fix that always works– but I did find two workaround solutions:
Option 1 (Add a screensaver icon to your Dock)
1. Open Finder
2. Press cmd+shift+G
3. Copy and paste the following path into the box:
/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Versions/A/Resources
4. Drag the blue ScreenSaverEngine icon to your dock.
5. Now you can just click the dock icon whenever you want to launch your Screen Saver.
- or -
Option 2 (Adding a "Lock Screen" button near the Clock, in the OSX Menu Bar)
1. Open Finder and go to Applications>Utilities, and open the Keychain Access application.
2. In the Keychain Access top menu bar, click "Keychain Access", then "Preferences"
3. Check the box labeled "Show keychain status in menu bar"
This will add a small lock icon to your mac's menu bar at the top. Whenever you want to start your screensaver or lock your computer, just click on the lock icon and click "Lock Screen".
Hope this helps!
Works like a charm. Thanks!
While this isn't really a direct solution, I tried having the hot corner put the display to sleep, rather than the screensaver and this worked. It also works for when you need it to wake to a password prompt to get back into the machine, assuming you have that setup. The only thing you lose in this is the actual screensaver being turned on. If that's not the big concern for some of the folks out there, then this may help.
Just because it works for you every time doesn't mean it will work for everyone, every time. Does not work for me -
I've resorted to a screen saver icon in the Dock.
I faced this problem just now with OX el Cap, Fixed it as the following.
Went to hot corners in preference Changed the behavior
Tryied new behavior
It worked.
Also changed dock size not sure if this helped.
Hope this helps other

Solution (for me):

The problem could be related to a corrupted Dock Preferences file (Hot Corner settings are stored with the Dock preferences). If this is the solution, as a part of it, you will end up having to reset most if not all Dock related settings (scroll bar visibility, scroll bar behavior, auto hide, Dock screen position, icons in the dock, etc.).
Try this:
Open Terminal (Terminal can be found the Utilities folder. To locate the Utilities folder, in Finder, click Go -> Utilities) Type in the following commands:
mv ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist ~/Desktop/ killall "Dock"
At this point, open System Preferences and reset your Dock preferences and set the hot corners. Hopefully this will work for you.
Command Explanation: The first command moves the existing Dock preferences file to the Desktop to serve as an improptu backup. The second command quits the Dock. Mac OS will instantly reopen the Dock with a fresh preferences file.
If this did not work, you can optionally restore your old preferences file with the following commands:
In Terminal:
rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist mv ~/Desktop/com.apple.dock.plist ~/Library/Preferences/ killall "Dock"
