Hi Tony G,

Apple IS NOT posting any suggestion here we are only users, the isse has been around since lion release several months ago with failed fixes throughout 10.7.1, 10.7.2, 10.7.3 (each release fixed it for some ppl when starting causing troubles for others).

If you wanna help drawing Apple's attention to get this fixed for once, you may wanna try 2 things (better if both)

1.- Contact Apple and open a ticket.

2.- Leave feedback reporting the annoyances of the issue http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

The MacBook Air that I was describing has been working faultlessly since turning off the pda support.

I have put it to sleep and re-awoken it succesfully on at least 10 occasions. (2 of which were overnight)

It is disappointing that it doesn't appear to be helping you guys on the iMacs. If I find out any more info I'll get back to you.

I realize Apple is not going to jump in on the thread and provide a solution, merely posing a rhetorical question as I'm sure the folks at Apple must keep an eye on these boards...

Thanks for the feedback link though. I was aware of the procedure to open up a service ticket, but I didn't know about the feedback system. It says they won't reply to any feedback, but at least it's another way to get this in front of them.

In regards to versions of Lion, I've only had trouble with the most recent release (10.7.3). My wife's 2 year old MacBook Pro never had this issue while it was on Snow Leopard or even when I upgraded it to Lion back in December. My 3 month old iMac came preinstalled with Lion and it always worked fine on there too. I'm guessing we were both running 10.7.2 as mine was purchased more than a month after it's release and hers wasnt upgraded until 2 months after 10.7.2's release. The only problem we ever ran into is if the "ask to join networks" option was selected, it would sometimes not connect automatically if our network was not in the first batch of networks that were discovered. However, as soon as I updated both of our computers to 10.7.3 we both began having this auto connect issue.

It seems that the circunstances to reproduces the issues are related to both the version and the hardware (MAC and router). For many people was present "out of the box". That is my case with a MBA 2011 delivered with Lion 10.7.1. The 10.7.2 just did the things worse. However for others started when Apple "fixed the issue" in 10.7.3.

The only constant and reproducible aspect for me is that turning bluetooth off fix it.

In addition certainly is software and not hardware - related. The computers do just perfect when running Windows - Bootcamp.

What is attonishing is that an extremely basic feature that almost every OS can handle without difficulties (Windows, Linux, Unix, Android, iOS, etc.) doesn't work as expected in one of the most expensive computers on the market.

Moreover, the annoyances that most of the people notice are related to the lost of connection. However the problems go a bit further when you look deeper in to the quality of the connection and data transfer. The Transmit Rate and RSSI among other are somehow pathetic compared with the values you get in the same computer when running Windows or Linux.

What's happening Apple devs? You cant code without Steve?

And yes I really whish Apple look into this threads they Had more than 8 months and were not able to fix it

My wife bought a new iMac two weeks ago and from day one, it dropped wi fi when waking from sleep. I spoke with Apple engineers twice and was told they are aware of the problem on 10.7.3 and that we would have to wait for a fix in future upgrades. This was not acceptable to me and we took it back to the Apple store where we explained the problem. We wanted it fixed or the computer replaced with a system that was working.

A resident "genius" went through all the normal checks to confirm the problem actually existed because he had not seen it before. The end result was that he removed 10.7.3 and replaced it with 10.7.2. He gave me detailed instructions on how to reload files etc. from my backup drive which we did. Everything is now working fine. He issued a final warning that we should not restore everything from time machine as this would likely reinstall the problem and not to update back to 10.7.3 until several updates down the road.

Thanks, Rob, for the information.

I use a mid-2011 iMac, running 10.7.3.

I used Software Update yesterday morning, and received the Wi-Fi bug fix.

All day yesterday, and this morning, the wake-up from keystroke or mouse-click worked properly -- it re-connected to Wi-Fi automatically. It really lookes fixed!

Thanks to all those who posted their experience with this problem, it halped make it visible to Apple.

And thanks to all of those who posted their attempted fix. In my opinion, all this information hellped Apple focus on the actual location of the problem.

I remain a bit curious about what the fix turned out to be, but at this point, it's back to web-surfing.

I fixed My MacBook air (OK it's a workaround)

Go to Apple Menu -> Systems Prefences -> Network

Click the lock in the bottom left hand corner and authenticate using your password.

Highlight the Bluetooth DUN option from the list of connections on the left hand side.

Press the - (minus) button at the bottom of the list.

Shut the window.

Mine works fine now even with the bluetooth turned on.

Hope this helps

Matt
