Problems With Lion (Found So Far).....

I have been using Lion for 2 days now and have come up against a number of issues which are ranging from the annoying to the downright frustrating. If anyone has any answers I would be very grateful. Also is it possible to remove Lion and go back to Snow Leopard as my new quad core i7 15" MacBook Pro is running like a dog after the upgrade!!!

  • Cannot put my MacMini to sleep any more (question asked in article "Mac Mini (2010 Version) Not Sleeping After Lion Upgrade"
  • Safari always opens with last page viewed, regardless of settings selected (can be very embarrassing if you know what I mean)
  • Mail seems to decide when it is going to get new emails and will show no new mails for some time even though my iPhone picks them up.
  • Flash no longer works properly - going to a site that wants to use the web cam gives me the Flash confirmation screen but will not let me select anything (Flash removed and reinstalled but still no go).
  • Spinning beach ball every time I try to launch a new application or do anything mildly taxing (this is on a Core i7 15" MacBook Pro with 4 Gb Ram.

Before the upgrade everything was fine and the MacBook Pro was the fastest Mac I had ever used, now it is running slower than my old 13" MacBook.

Is this Apple's 'Vista'?

Any help or suggestions (including how to go back) would be greatly appreciated.

I think this is Apple's Vista. I have the same problem with Safari that you do. I clear my history after every browsing session, so it opens to a blank page instead of my homepage.

Battery life is low with Lion, a significant decrease from SL.

I realize that this is .0 release, but it is frustrating.

I never use Safari, that's my point! And it's never running when I restart. Additionally, there's a folder in the trash which never gets deleted (titled imac-G5 with folders inside it, eventually leading to a Wordpress plugin!). There's no warning msg that it's in use and regardless of what I do to remove it, it keeps reappearing, except once but then it returned after another restart).

Frankly, I'm not impressed with the 'improvements', especially those awful scroll bars! In Mail, with around 6000 msgs in it, it's simply impossible for me to scroll accurately through them. Ok, clicking on the bar if there is a small number of files in the list but useless with the numbers I have).

Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

On the 27th of april 2012 Sony's .ARW-files (RAW) are still not consistently visible as thumbnails! Whereas they actually WERE in earlier MacOS versions.

Rather a nasty thing when you have to work and click your way through vast collections of Sony RAW files (event, concert and theater shoots).....

Apple - whip this out now, finally!! This dawdling is not what we may expect from a world brand dedicated to semi- and full-professional mutimedia processing clients!

The real issue is the resion the update was make to start with. Anow leopard was about adding fetures, and making the computer better and faster. But now lion is now about adding, its about conforming. apple is trying to make all the os's alike. And they are not considering that this isnt what people want. I mean Launchpad, really, its a computer, not an iPad. With vista micro was trying to make a better product, but atleast it didnt take a few months to get used to. Everything was still where it should be. Now with lion if i want to go back in safari, i cant just swipe my hand like i used to with out going to a new space. Speaking of, the new spaces *****. The whole point to spaces was to be able to orgnise. Now its just having all your stuff floting around. its so stupid. They truly reuied osx. This is a computer, dont try to make it into an iPad!

Because to Lion, I will never purchus a Mac ever again. I built my own PC over the summer. For $2,800 i have the power of 8 macbook pros, and win 7 is really great. Your not restricted with all this stuff all the time: Dont like microsoft game marketplace, then add/remove --> Remove --> gone. Dont like app store --> "'App Store' can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X."

The App Store is required by OS X for software updates, that's why you shouldn't (i'm not sure about can't) delete it.

Of course, the reason software updates are now pushed through the App Store is most certainly to drive more business (or at least attention) towards the paid-for Apps on sale.

It isn't about conformity, it's about revenues, and certainly the developers aren't complaining.

As for the end users who don't like it, drag the app store off the dock so you'll never see it again except for when there are Software Update notifications.
