DVD Player in OS X Lion

I installed OS X 10.7 (Lion) a couple of days ago. Since then, I have had trouble getting my DVD Player to work. It starts up but crashes about a minute or two into any DVD.... I am not sure what my options are. (I can download VLC and use it, but I much prefer DVD Player...)

I just noticed several things about OS Lion on my Mac Mini, and it makes **** glad I did not upgrade all of my machines to Lion.

1) There is no save a video clip option.

2) The fast forward and back does not respond in real time. If I hit the fast forward button there is no telling how long or far ahead the video will move, it completely ignores any mouse input.

The scrubbing on DVD Player has never been very good or adequate resolution so I cannot tell if it is worse or the same on this "ap" version from Lion.

One would think that on an OS upgrade that we have to pay for, and that now is default and locked in because new hardware needs drivers that do not exist in past versions of the OS and are not going to be updates ... at least that is what I was told by Apple support people ... that the Ap would work as good or maybe how about better!?

This really bugs me, along with all the other unilateral decisions they made on Lion whatever the customer thinks or likes.
