Repeated process crash every 10 seconds

I've recently upgraded my MBP Mid 2010 15" core i7 to Lion. I'm now getting a repeated crash. The system log shows:

You have software rights management software installed called Sentinel HASP.

What program that installed this is responsible and you need to get a update for it from that company.

There is Terminal level uninstall daemon instructions in this PDF

Can you describe what software you have that could have this installed?

Can you describe what your were doing when the crashes occur?

I have the same issue with mine. I discovered it because my MacBook Pro 2010 i7 will not fall asleep on its own. I've had this happen before and it was a process continuously trying to communicate with a licensing server (OnOne's Photoshop plugins). They've since fixed that (and it's a different licensing service). So when my machine stopped falling asleep again I loaded up Console and found this new thing restarting every 10 seconds which I'm guessing is what is causing my computer not to fall asleep.

Tried the uninstall via Terminal and get this:

launchctl: Couldn't stat("com.aladdin.hasplmd.plist"): No such file or directory

nothing found to unload

launchctl: Couldn't stat("com.aladdin.aksusbd.plist"): No such file or directory

nothing found to unload

It's wierd. It's like I don't even have it installed if the Terminal commands had no effect. Wonder what could be trying to call it.

Dug around for about two/three hours on the net and through my system trying to figure out what software might be causing this and have come up with nothing.

I believe this was installed by Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe Organ software. I was reviewing a demo copy of this software, and I know this uses a dongle for the licensing.

These crashes occur every 10 seconds continuously. As soon as I start the computer, the crashes begin. I noticed a growing memory usage and a higher CPU usage since installing Lion, and that is what started me looking around to see what might be going on.

i have reviewed the link you provided and attempted their removal process, but it does not seem to work (or at least I can't do it correctly!).

I guess I'll visit the Hauptwerk forums and post a question over there. I'd hate to have to wipe my drive just to get rid of this.

That's definitely not the culprit software for mine. So this could be more wide spread.

I just wanted to let you know that I was able to correct my issue, after I stumbled around for a while. I was able to use the terminal level commands found in the document you provided the link to. I just needed to be in the correct directory (same directory as the plists, which was not easy to find). I then stumbled around some more, and finally deleted the plists. I have not had a crash in over an hour! I may be a mainframe programmer, but I know nothing about unix! I wanted to give you credit for a correct answer, but only gave you the Helpful answer status and this system won't let me change it. Sorry, for you certainly deserve the correct answer flag! Again, my thanks!

How did you find the directory where the plists were? That's probably my problem is I was trying to do the Terminal level commands from my root directory. I still need to find the plist location apparantly.

Turns out Lion's built-in search isn't half bad either. I was able to find those files by searching for them in Finder. Although the terminal command didn't seem to work. I just deleted them through the OS from where I found them and now those crashes are going away. They were in /Library/LaunchDaemons/ Also deleted another .plist from Xrite.

I'm betting that's what the issue was was an older PPC color profiling software I had from X Rite that was not compatible with Lion. Thought I uninstalled it all, but I guess not.

Hi, I had this issue as well. For me, the security software was installed with a USB Key for X-plane. I had to install the HASP USB drivers to get X-plane to recognize the USB key so that it would no longer require the DVD in the drive. Uninstalling the HASP folder and the plist files fixed the issue.

Had the same issue (hasplmd launch crash report every 10 seconds). Going to Library/LaunchDaemons and removing com.aladdin.hasplmd (in fact, removing all plists with com.aladdin in front), then rebooting fixed it.

For me, the x-rite i1 screen calibration software was the culprit that introdruced this junk to my system. The interesting thing is that the i1 device already is a "dongle" to the software, so why did they think it wise to put a rights management toolkit in there? It's not like the software is any use without their hardware, and it doesn't even come with serial numbers. That really was just begging for this kind of failure to happen.
