Everybody settle down about Lion!

So far Lion has been out for 4 days, sure there are going to be bugs its the first version of a new operating system!, of course everything isnt going to be perfect. Apple is already seeding (or about to seed) 10.7.2 for developers and this should fix some bugs and problems.

People need to settle down about simple little bugs, i have two macs that i upgraded a couple of days ago and so far havent had any bugs whatsoever, and even if i come across some i certinetly wont retreat back to Snow Leopard.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

I have to wonder why you are having so many problems as well.

I have upgraded 4 Macs, a late 2010 iMac, a mid 2009 macbook, a current Macbook Pro and a 5 year old iMac... no problems on any of them.

Sure there are a couple of minor bugs (it is a new OS, it is to be expected) but why your 1 month old Mac is shooting errors and locking up is beyond me.

All of your applications updated? all of your plugins? What random errors are you getting?

If you just rant and don't bother to tell us what the problems are, you aren't going to get much help.

Ok take a deep breath... your new to Apple... its ok... By the way welcome to Apple Support Communities. Ok, I hate to say this... your probably holding it wrong! Ok... i could not resist. Just kidding. But seriously.. describe what you are having trouble with... did you run software update, repair disc permissions from disc utility, Did you update your java after installing Lion, did you try your headphones in the head jack to see if your head phones work? Could you be more specific.

Apple will never be the same again, I don't care what happened with all the previous updates. People are going to lose money and jobs now.

That's right: Apple will never be the same again. But if people are going to lose money and jobs it will not be at Apple. It will hurt people (as usual) who stick to the old ways and fail to see the benefits of what's new.

i'm a perfect example of someone who upgraded to LION ...and I wondered why so many complaints

now i see why...my computer is 1 month old and now the upgrade is giving me random errors and lock ups

I strongly suggest you start a question thread for each problem you're having so folks can try to help you. That is, if you haven't done so already.

Me too I am getting several crashes on my MacBook Pro 17", 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, bought on 2010.

TextEdit, XCode, Mail, iTunes all crash! I can't believe it.

Also, I find terribly dangerous the auto-save function. I lost my data on a TextEdit document "thanks" to the auto-save. Never happen in my whole life! And this should be a safe solution? I think no pro user would like to use it. Why doesn't Apple put a System Preferences check-box "Enable Auto-Save on the apps which supports it"? Or even at the app level. So I go to the TextEdit prefs and disable it immediately. Also, where does the auto-saved copies get saved? Which disk? Which folder? I have a doc saved on a cripted disk, so I would like to know whether these copies go to a non cripted disk. Also I do not want to have many copies of this doc around. I want only one!

Last, on Lion, my external disk LaCie, 1 TB, is visible only if connected to the USB port. If I connect to the Fire-Wire 800 port I cannot see it at all!

Please Apple wake up and come back home. Pro users like me are waiting for you.

If you need to recover a change in a document in TextEdit pull down the FIle menu and choose "revert to saved." This will open a Time Machine-like interface in which you can scroll back to the version of the document you want to restore and recover your data. Just lean how to use the feature and don't panic and you'll see how powerful it can be.

"Versions" doesn't work the way you think it does. It simply saves a "marker" for the various versions of the document in a DB on the HDD of your computer. It isn't saving multiple full copies of a document.

If you're having trobule using TextEdit and Versions then post a new thread and ask your question. We'll be able to help you.

This particular thread is better than Craig's List's "Missed Connection" for entertainment. Somethings in Lion are not so good, most are improvements, and which is which depends on the user. I did my homework, repaired permissions, backed up and upgraded my MBP with no glitches. My dual G5 keeps my PPC software and my wife's MB with SL will get the upgrade when the first update comes out. Life is as good as you let it be.

Kind sir you quote me as saying apple is arrogant and incompetent. Please remember I was using those words regarding the experience I and many others had dealing with customer services trying to get a redemption code out of them from the "up to date" programme. Regarding this they absolutely were both arrogant and incompetent. Now let me qualify that for you. They were arrogant because they thought that there was no rush in resolving the issue at hand, they had no empathy for the situation and did not appear to care that they had failed to deliver on a promise. They were incompetent because they had no procedure in place whatsoever to deal with people who weren't able to get a redemption code online & because the process failed in the first place. The fact that no procedure is in place also highlights their arrogance that their online process was flawless.

Just because you don't experience any problems doesn't mean that other people's issues are invalid. Believing so is arrogant in itself!

Oh, I apologise for my mistake, I thought you were quoting in the context of this thread. It is reassuring to know that "many, many" people believe Apple has botched this rollout though. I hadn't had time to read all the other threads yet. Hopefully now I have had to pay for the "free" upgrade all will go smoothly with the update itself.

Everybody settle down about Lion!
